2. Immunological analysis of the human tumor cell surface : characterization of polypeptides associated with urinary bladder carcinoma
Abstract : Tumors express antigens characteristic of their malignant phenotype, a fact that has become exploited for the diagnosis of certain types of cancer. As these tumor-associated antigens (TAA) may also provide Information on the molecular mechanisms of tumorogenesls as well as constituting the basis for immunotherapeutlc approaches, much Interest has been focused on the Identification and characterization of TAAs. 3. In vitro studies of natural and tumor-associated immunity in patients with transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder
Abstract : Peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) from patients with transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder (TCC-bladder) were studied using a SlCr-release assay for their in vitro cytotoxicity against a panel of allogeneic tissue culture cell lines of TCC-bladder and other origins. Control PBL were obtained from four different groups of donors. READ MORE

4. Allergy to laboratory animals : risk factors for development of allergy and methods for measuring airborne rodent allergens
Abstract : Between 10-50% of workers exposed to laboratory animals, mainly rats or mice, develop laboratory animal allergy (LAA) with symptoms of rhinitis, conjuctivitis, asthma, or urticaria, and IgE against animal allergens. Symptoms often arise within the first years of animal work. Up to half of the symptomatic subjects develop asthma. READ MORE

5. Diagnostic methods for bacterial etiology in adult community-acquired pneumonia
Abstract : The etiologic agent is often unidentified in patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Development of new diagnostic methods has been encouraged. We aimed to develop a multiplex PCR (mPCR) assay for common bacterial pathogens and evaluate the diagnostic usefulness of this assay and of respiratory culture in CAP. READ MORE
