1. Mathematical aspects of apolipoprotein kinetics, with focus on metabolic diseases
Abstract : Biomathematics is a branch of science that aims at describing biological processes in mathematical terms to frame and solve otherwise unsolvable research questions in the biological and medical field. Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death in the world. READ MORE

2. Regulation of Lipoprotein Lipase Activity : an In-vitro Study of a Complex and Dynamic System
Abstract : The progress of human society outpaces our biological evolution, and this brings unexpected health problems. The industrial revolution brought up dramatic changes in nutrition and lifestyle – we are increasingly shifting towards a nutrient-rich Western-patterned diet and to a sedentary lifestyle. READ MORE

3. Metabolic risk markers and relative survival in patients with aortic stenosis requiring surgery
Abstract : Background: Aortic stenosis (AS) is the most common valve disorder requiring surgery in developed countries. The etiology of AS is only partly known. Identification of new biomarkers in prospective studies could lead to novel insights in the etiology of AS, and possibly lead to improved clinical management. READ MORE

4. Metabolic responsiveness to growth hormone in children
Abstract : Metabolic effects of growth hormone (GH) therapy in short children have not been clearly established owing to the previous lack of controlled trials studying the metabolic outcome in response to different GH doses despite the known effects of GH on insulin sensitivity, lipid profile, and body composition. It has previously been shown that individualized GH doses during catch-up growth significantly reduce the proportion of unexpectedly good and poor responders around a predefined individual growth target in short prepubertal children. 5. The ApoM/S1P-complex: its role in vascular inflammatory disease and interaction with S1P-receptors
Abstract : HDL is believed to be protective against cardiovascular disease (CVD) via the reverse cholesterol transport and anti-inflammatory actions in the vessel. Apolipoprotein M (apoM) is an apolipoprotein mainly associated with HDL. Recently ApoM was proven tobe the main carrier of Sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) in circulation. READ MORE
