  1. 1. Growth and Characterization of AlN : From Nano Structures to Bulk Material

    Author : Gholamreza Yazdi; Rositza Yakimova; Mikael Syväjärvi; Zlatko Sitar; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Aluminum nitride (AlN) exhibits a large direct band gap, 6.2 eV, and is thus suitable forsolid state white-light-emitting devices. It is capable in spintronics because of its high Curietemperature if doped with transition metals. READ MORE

  2. 2. Investigation of deep levels in bulk GaN

    Author : Tran Thien Duc; Erik Janzén; Franziska C. Beyer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The first gallium nitride (GaN) crystal was grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy in 1969 by Maruska and Tietjen and since then, there has been an intensive development of the field, especially after the ground breaking discoveries concerning growth and p-type doping of GaN done by the 2014 year Nobel Laureates in Physics, Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura. GaN and its alloys with In and Al belong to a semiconductor group which is referred as the III-nitrides. READ MORE

  3. 3. Optical Studies of Periodic Microstructures in Polar Materials

    Author : Herman Högström; Carl Gustaf Ribbing; Clivia M. Sotomayor Torres; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Engineering physics; polaritonic; polar; photonic crystal; surface phonon polariton; multilayer; Reststrahlen; SiC; SiO2; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : The optical properties of matter are determined by the coupling of the incident electromagnetic radiation to oscillators within the material. The oscillators can be electrons, ions or molecules. Close to a resonance the dielectric function exhibits strong dispersion and may be negative. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structural Studies Of Materials Using Time-Resolved X-ray Diffraction

    Author : Hengameh Allaf Navirian; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; structure of bulk crystal; x-ray diffraction; phase transition; mechanical properties; microscopy;

    Abstract : This work consisted of the application of X-ray diffraction methods to the study of ultrafast phenomena in various materials. Since the X-ray pulses generated from the bending magnet at the MAX II ring, where most of the experimental work was conducted, have a duration of the order of 300 ps, they can not be used directly as probe pulses in experiments where higher temporal resolution is required. 5. 5. Development of Electroacoustic Sensors for Biomolecular Interaction Analysis

    Author : Henrik Anderson; Ilia Katardjiev; Björn Ingemarsson; Inger Vikholm-Lundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biosensor; protein interactions; kinetics; affinity; QCM; quartz crystal microbalance; piezoelectric resonators; dissipation; motional resistance; Bioanalytical engineering; Bioanalytisk teknik; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : Biomolecular interaction analysis to determine the kinetics and affinity between interacting partners is important for the fundamental understanding of biology, as well as for the development of new pharmaceutical substances. A quartz crystal microbalance instrument suitable for kinetics and affinity analyses of interaction events was developed. READ MORE
