1. Measurement System for Microwave Imaging Towards a Biomedical Application
Abstract : Microwave imaging techniques have shown excellent capabilities in various fields such as civil engineering, nondestructive testing, industrial applications, and have in recent decades experienced strong growth as a research topic in biomedical diagnostics. Many research groups throughout the world work on prototype systems for producing images of human tissues in different biomedical applications, particularly breast tumor detection. READ MORE

2. Absorbed Dose Determination and Characteristics of Degraded Electron Beams: Application to Intraoperative Radiation Therapy
Abstract : The aim of this work was to quantify limitations of and uncertainties in commonly used dosimetric techniques for relative absorbed dose determination in degraded electron beams, such as those encountered in intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) and small-electron-field radiotherapy. Three different detector types were investigated with regard to measurements of output factors and relative absorbed dose distributions: (1) a parallel-plate ionization chamber, (2) a p-type silicon diode detector and (3) a diamond detector. 3. Bioelectronic Nanosensor Devices for Environmental and Biomedical Analysis
Abstract : A new type of Bioelectronic Nanosensor Device with potential applications in medicine, biotechnology and environmental analysis was designed. The nanosensor is based on RISFET (Regional Ion Sensitive Field Effect Transistor) technology. READ MORE

4. Advances in Microwave Hyperthermia Treatment using Time Reversal
Abstract : The last twenty years have seen many clinical studies showing the ability of hyperthermia to remarkably enhance response to radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The objective of hyperthermia treatment is to raise the temperature in tumors to therapeutic levels, for a sufficient period of time, in order to achieve cell death or render the cells more sensitive to ionizing radiation and/or chemotherapy. 5. Towards a microwave hyperthermia system for head and neck tumors
Abstract : Hyperthermia has shown the ability to enhance the performance of radiotherapyand chemotherapy in many clinical trials. The incidence of increased tissue toxicityas a result of high radiotherapy dose, made hyperthermia as a safe methodin combination with radiotherapy to enhance the treatment outcome. READ MORE
