1. Prokaryotic Arsenic Resistance - Studies in Bacillus subtilis
Abstract : Arsenic is a toxic metalloid which is found all over the globe. Due to its toxicity and wide abundance, all living organisms have evolved intrinsic arsenic resistance systems. In this study, three proteins that provide arsenic resistance in the Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis have been investigated. READ MORE

2. Influence of gut microbiota on xenobiotic toxicity in a Caenorhabditis elegans model with a focus on arsenic and PFAS
Abstract : Exposure to environmental toxins presents a hazard to humans. Inorganic metalloid- arsenic (As), organic chemicals- per and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are frequently detected in the environment. Exposure to As and PFAS is associated with multiple adverse effects in humans and animals. READ MORE

4. Study of arsenate adsorption on iron oxide by in situ ATR-FTIR spectroscopy
Abstract : Stabilization of arsenic contaminated soils by iron oxides has been proposed as a remediation technique to prevent leaching of arsenate into the environment. However, fundamental studies are needed to establish under which conditions the complexes formed are stable. READ MORE

5. Arsenic (V) adsorption on iron oxide : implications for soil remedeation and water purification
Abstract : Addition of iron oxide based adsorbents to arsenic contaminated soils has been proposed as a mean to reduce the mobility of arsenic in the soil. However, the conditions in the soil such as pH value, the presence of phosphate after addition of fertilizer to the soil or the presence of Zn (II) as a co-contaminant may affect the adsorption of arsenate on the iron oxide and may therefore have implications for the mobility of arsenic in the remediated soil.
