  1. 1. Effects of arsenic trioxide and hypoxia in multidrug-resistant neuroblastoma

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Medicine

    Author : Jenny Karlsson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical biology; Klinisk biologi; neuroblastoma; multidrug resistance; hypoxia; glucose-deficiency; cell death; Bax; Apoptosis; arsenic trioxide;

    Abstract : Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumour derived from the sympathetic nervous system. Although most children with neuroblastoma initially respond to treatment, approximately 50% of these patients relapse with multidrug-resistant tumours. Arsenic trioxide (As2O3) has been used for centuries to treat different clinical disorders including malignancies. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hypoxic Adaptation and Arsenic Trioxide Treatment in Small Cell Lung Carcinoma

    University dissertation from Molecular Medicine

    Author : Matilda Thorén; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arsenic trioxide; small cell lung carcinoma; hypoxia; hypoxia-inducible factors; survival; proliferation; glycolysis; glutamine metabolism; MYC;

    Abstract : Small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) is a very aggressive solid tumor and is often widely metastasized by the time of diagnosis. Despite good response to the initial chemotherapy, SCLC cells often develop multidrug resistance to conventionally used chemotherapeutic drugs, which cause almost all SCLC tumors to relapse. 3. 3. Approaches to Treatment of Children with Advanced Neuroblastoma

    University dissertation from Ingrid Øra, Div. of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, University Hospital Lund, 221 85 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Ingrid Øra; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2003]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; drug resistance; Pediatrics; hypoxia; apoptosis; arsenic trioxide; treatment; diagnosis; neuroblastoma; sympathetic nervous system; Pediatri; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Abstract : Children with advanced neuroblastoma are at high risk for relapse of multidrug resistant disease, despite initial response to intensive multimodality treatment. Neuroblastomas have similarities with immature neuroblasts seen during embryonic development of the sympathetic nervous system (the origin of these tumors). READ MORE

  4. 4. Clinical and Experimental Studies in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Studies of Treatment Outcome, In Vitro Cellular Drug Resistance and Gene Expression

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Ulla Olsson-Strömberg; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : Medicine; chronic myeloid leukemia; adult; stem cell transplantation; mobilization of Ph-negative stem cells; in vitro assay; imatinib; gene expression; Medicin;

    Abstract : The aims of the studies described in the thesis were to investigate different treatment strategies in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients. Furthermore, activity of imatinib was investigated by in vitro cytotoxicity assay, and the gene expression pattern in interferon treated patients. READ MORE
