1. Legacy fostering the twins. Connecting the S/X and VGOS telescope network generations
Abstract : With the VLBI Global Observing System (VGOS) being the next step in the development of geodetic Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), it is necessary to connect the new VGOS network to existing legacy S/X telescopes. Specially designed short-baseline interferometry sessions aim to obtain local-tie vectors between these telescope generations at observatories that have both legacy S/X and new generation VGOS telescopes. 3. Direct Write Technology of SIN Tunnel Junctions for Thermometry and Microwave Devices
Abstract : This thesis concerns development of SIN junction technology for thermometry and microwave detectors, as well as technology of a planar phase switch as a part of integratedmicrowave receiver.Cold-Electron Bolometer (CEB) is a sensitive detector of a microwave radiation, in which SIN tunnel junctions are used for temperature measurement of a nanoscale absorber in thesame way as in SIN thermometers. 4. Theoretical Atomic Spectroscopy of Earthbound and Stellar Plasma
Abstract : Motivated by spectroscopic analysis of astrophysical and laboratory plasma, this thesis concerns the fundamental structure and spectral properties of atoms and their ions. The multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock (MCDHF) method is used to predict the emission or absorption of radiation, by atomic systems in general, and of heavy and highly charged ions in particular. 5. Atomic Processes in Stellar Atmospheres : Inelastic Collisions and Effects on Late-type Spectra
Abstract : Chemical abundances as measured from stellar spectral lines are often subject to uncertainties due to lack of accurate data for inelastic collisions, which is needed for non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (non-LTE) modelling. For cool stars, understanding of collision processes with electrons and hydrogen atoms is required to achieve high precision measurements. READ MORE
