1. Synthesis of Nitrogen Heterocycles via 1,3-Dipolar Cycloadditions - Method Development and Applications
Abstract : Because of the diverse properties displayed by nitrogen heterocycles, they are one of the most commonly used structural elements in drug discovery. Due to this variation in properties, however, the chemistry and synthetic pathway to each heterocycle is unique. READ MORE

2. Perfluroaryl azides : Reactivities, Unique Reactions and their Applications in the Synthesis of Theranostic Agents
Abstract : The work centersaround perfluoroaryl azides (PFAAs), and theirability to undergo certain fast and robusttransformations. The chemistry was furtherappliedfor biomedical applications. The first section focuses on the azide-aldehyde-amine cycloaddition using PFAAs. READ MORE

3. Aromatic Allylation via Diazotization; Application in synthesis of heterocyclic compounds
Abstract : A new method for allylation of aromatic systems has been developed. A number of arylamines were converted via diazotization to the corresponding allylaromatic compounds using tert-butyl nitrite and an excess of allylic bromides with complete regioselectivity. Electron-withdrawing groups, in the aromatic moiety, were necessary to obtain good yields. READ MORE

4. Lewis acid Mediated Aza-Diels-Alder Reactions and Asymmetric Alkylations of 2H-azirines
Abstract : This thesis describes the use of 2H-azirines, three-membered unsaturatednitrogen-containing heterocycles, as reactive intermediates ina number of Lewis acid promoted alkylations and Diels-Alderreactions providing synthetically useful aziridines. In order to carry out this investigation a new generalprocedure for the ring closure of vinyl azides, forming theresultant 3-substituted-2H-azirines, was developed applying low boiling solventsin closed reaction vessels at elevated temperatures. 5. Carbohydrate-Functionalized Nanomaterials : Synthesis, Characterization and Biorecognition Studies
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the development of carbohydrate coupling chemistry on nanomaterials and their biological activity studies. It is divided into two parts:In part one, two carbohydrate immobilization approaches, based on perfluorophenyl azide (PFPA)-functionalized silica nanoparticles (SNPs), are presented, where the binding affinity of the glyconanoparticles was evaluated through carbohydrate-lectin interaction.
