  1. 1. Design and analysis of a novel low loss homopolar electrodynamic bearing

    Author : Torbjörn A. Lembke; Chandur Sadarangani; Hannes Bleuler; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical engineering; Homopolar bearing; Electrodynamic bearing; Induction bearing; Elektroteknik; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Abstract : A novel homopolar electrodynamic bearing, together with a suitable permanent magnet drive, have been developed for high-speed applications where low losses and high reliability are essential and exclude the use of ball bearings, and yet where active magnetic bearings offer a too complex system solution. Considered applications are small turbomolecular vacuum pumps, and maintenance free flywheels for energy storage in remote telecom and satellite systems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Trends in Childbearing and Nuptiality in Sweden : A Period Analysis

    Author : Gunnar Andersson; Kathleen Kiernan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Demography; Demografi; Demography; demografi;

    Abstract : One purpose of this thesis is to introduce a system for presenting trends in family dynamics in contemporary Sweden. We use annual indexes of birth rates in order to display trends in childbearing for Swedish women over the years since 1961. We use similar annual indexes of marriage risks and divorce risks to display nuptiality trends since 1971. READ MORE

  3. 3. Intelligent fault diagnosis and predictive maintenance for a bearing ring grinder

    Author : Muhammad Ahmer; Pär Marklund; Fredrik Sandin; Kim Berglund; Martin Gustafsson; Peter Krajnik; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; analysis; grinding machines; diagnostics; predictive maintenance; condition monitoring; intelligent fault diagnosis; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Predicting the failure of any structure is a difficult task in a mechanical system. However complicated and difficult the prediction might be, the first step is to know the actual condition of the system. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wavelet and gabor frames and bases : approximation, sampling and applications

    Author : Niklas Grip; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to both theoretical and practical aspects of applied mathematics. It consists of three main parts: Part I consists of an application-oriented introduction to the theory of frames and bases for separable Hilbert spaces, as well as an introduction to the main tools used in the remaining Chapters: Time-frequency analysis, Gabor frames and wavelet frames. 5. 5. Homogenization of Reynolds equations

    Author : Emmanuel Kwame Essel; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : This Licentiate thesis is focussed on some new questions in homogenization theory, which have been motivated by some concrete problems in tribology. From the mathematical point of view, these questions are equipped with scales of Reynolds equations with rapidly oscillating coefficients. READ MORE
