1. Specific and nonspecific immune mechanisms in human gut : a comparative study of normal and ulcerative colitis intestine
Abstract : The intestine, with its large mucosal surface area, digests and absorbs food nutrients and maintains a beneficial microbial flora in the colon. Local protective immune responses against intestinal pathogens ensure the survival of the individual. These immune reactions are both specific and non-specific in nature. READ MORE

2. ATP-Binding-Cassette Transporters in Biliary Efflux and Drug-Induced Liver Injury
Abstract : Membrane transport proteins are known to influence the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity (ADMET) of drugs. At the onset of this thesis work, only a few structure-activity models, in general describing P-glycoprotein (Pgp/ABCB1) interactions, were developed using small datasets with little structural diversity. 3. A study of the cytoplasmic domains of C-CAM isoforms : calmodulin binding and phosphorylation
Abstract : C-CAM, a member of the Immunoglobulin Superfamily, was originally identified as an intercellular adhesion molecule, and can mediate cell-cell adhesion by homophilic binding. However, it also appears in high concentrations in luminal, microvillar surfaces. READ MORE

4. Monoclonal antibodies against carcinoembryonic antigen and their use in tumor diagnosis
Abstract : A new CEA-related substance, (CEAlow) was isolated from liver metastases of colorectal cancer. Purified CEAlow was homogeneous by several physico-chemical criteria. It had an apparent molecular weight of 125,000. 2/9 monkey anti-CEA sera gave a spur with CEA over CEAlow in immunodiffusion. READ MORE
