1. Statistical models of TF/DNA interaction
Abstract : Gene expression is regulated in response to metabolic necessities and environmental changes throughout the life of a cell. A major part of this regulation is governed at the level of transcription, deciding whether messengers to specific genes are produced or not. READ MORE

2. Groove-binding Unsymmetrical Cyanine Dyes for DNA Applications
Abstract : This work focuses on interactions between DNA and a group of newly developed unsymmetrical cyanine dyes. The aim of the work was to discover fluorescent dyes that can be used in biophysical studies of natural DNA where minimum perturbation of the DNA-helix is essential, where a slow dissociation rate of the dyes is needed and where the ionic strength is an important parameter. 3. Helicobacter pylori : multitalented adaptation of binding properties
Abstract : Helicobacter pylori infects and persistently colonizes the stomach, which results in gastritis and in some individuals peptic ulcer disease or gastric cancer. Adherence of H. pylori to the epithelium is an important factor for development of disease. READ MORE

4. Affinity-, Partition- and Permeability Properties of the Human Red Blood Cell Membrane and Biomembrane Models, with Emphasis on the GLUT1 Glucose Transporter
Abstract : The human glucose transporter GLUT1 is abundant in red blood cells, the blood-brain barrier and epithelial cells, where it mediates the transport of the energy metabolite, glucose. In the present work some properties of GLUT1, including affinity binding of both substrates and inhibitors, transport rates as well as permeabilities of aromatic amino acids and drug-membrane interactions were analyzed by chromatographic methods. 5. Proteins of the Inter-α-inhibitor Family : Biosynthesis, Plasma Clearance and Interaction with Extracellular Matrix Components
Abstract : Bikunin, a chondroitin sulfate-containing protein of 25 kDa, has protease inhibitory activity and occurs in the plasma in free and complexed form. In inter-α-inhibitor (IαI) and pre-a-inhibitor (PαI) it is covalently linked through its chondroitin sulfate (CS) chain to two or one other polypeptide of about 80 kDa – heavy chains 1 and 2 (H1, H2) and heavy chain 3 (H3) – respectively.
