  1. 1. Perceptual Surface Reconstruction

    Author : Jens Månsson; Kognitionsvetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; system; kontroll; Psychology; Psykologi; numerisk analys; Datalogi; systems; control; numerical analysis; Surface; Contour; Depth; Vision; Binocular; Computer science;

    Abstract : How does the brain transform the 2-D light arrays in our eyes into a meaningful 3-D description of surfaces around us? What assumptions does the visual system make about the world when information is incomplete? And how are these assumptions computationally expressed in this perceptual reconstruction process? These questions, and other aspects of binocular depth perception are analysed from a theoretical and computational perspective, as well as through empirical investigations. In paper one, the fundamentals of stereopsis are briefly reviewed, and the difficulties related with resolving the (stereo) correspondence problem are particularly discussed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders in Children and Young Adults with an emphasis on ophthalmology

    Author : Emelie Gyllencreutz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fetal Alcohol Syndrome; Optic Nerve; Optical Coherence Tomography; Strabismus; Vision; Visual Perception; Quality of Life;

    Abstract : Introduction: Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) are a group of disorders caused by prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE). The most severe and most studied FASD condition is fetal alcohol syndrome. Other conditions include partial fetal alcohol syndrome and alcohol-related neurodevelopmental disorder. READ MORE

  3. 3. Visual ecology of insect superposition eyes

    Author : Pär A Brännström; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal physiology; tiger beetle; hawkmoth; mayfly; insect; visual ecology; eye design; vision; compound eye; Djurfysiologi;

    Abstract : In the superposition compound eye each rhabdom (light sensitive unit) receives light through many ommatidial facets, while in the apposition compound eye every rhabdom receives light from a single facet. The superposition design increases photon capture, which is an advantage in dark environments. READ MORE

  4. 4. Real-Time Motion and Stereo Cues for Active Visual Observers

    Author : Mårten Björkman; KTH; []
    Keywords : active vision; binocular stereo; cue integration; real-time systems;

  5. 5. Effects of glare on binocular vision and reading behaviour performing computer work

    Author : Susanne Glimne; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Workplace luminance;

    Abstract : We spend more and more time working with computers. When we do so our central visual field lacks three-dimensional (3D) features and this leads to reduced binocular control and may result in eye-related symptoms. READ MORE
