  1. 1. A Study of Some Temporal Properties of the Human Visual Evoked Potential, and Their Relation to Binocular Function

    Author : Björn Johansson; Peter Jakobsson; Anders Sjöström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; VEP Visual Evoked Potential ; contrast sensitivity; binocularity; latency; Fourier analysis; strabismus; amblyopia; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi;

    Abstract : As disturbed binocular functions in small children may lead to severe amblyopia it is of interest to detect it as early as possible. Most tests for binocular functions, however, demand active cooperation and may be unreliable in children up to 4-5 years of age. READ MORE

  2. 2. Investigations of binocularity and reading performance in healthy subjects and patients with mild traumatic brain injury

    Author : Jan Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: It is known that problems with binocular vision can cause issues for reading, less well known is to what extent binocular vision improves reading performance. A key aim for this project was to estimate the contribution of binocularity in reading in healthy subjects, and in patients with mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI). READ MORE

  3. 3. On Cyclodeviation - Strategies for Investigation, Management and quality of Life

    Author : Sara Flodin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Strabismus; Orthoptics; Cyclodeviation; Quality of Life;

    Abstract : Introduction: Cyclodeviation is a form of strabismus that is not externally visible. It is measured subjectively and in degrees, as incyclotorsion or excyclotorsion. The perception of subjective tilting does not always accompany ocular torsion, and vice versa; and patients rarely complain specifically about cyclodiplopia. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ocular counter-rolling during head tilt

    Author : Tony Pansell; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Eye movements; Ocular torsion; VOR; head tilt; Vision.;

    Abstract : When tilting the head towards the shoulder there are numerous mechanisms influencing on the generation and maintenance of ocular counter-roll. Each of these mechanisms has its own temporal and spatial characteristics which influences on the counter-rolled eye position. READ MORE

  5. 5. Effects of eye and neck muscle proprioception on ocular motor control in normal and strabismic subjects

    Author : Ying Han; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : strabismus; binocular function; proprioception; eye position; muscle vibration; eye muscle; neck muscle; hand pointing; accommodative vergence movement; dynamics;

    Abstract : Abundant proprioceptive information originates in eye and neck muscles but their role in normal visual function is unknown. Under experimental conditions, proprioceptive activation induces illusory visual movement, whereas clinical evidence indicates that proprioceptive dysfunction causes disturbances in spatial orientation.
