  1. 1. Acute cardiovascular effects of biofuel exhaust exposure

    Author : Jon Unosson; Jenny A Bosson; Anders Blomberg; Jeremy P Langrish; Campen Matthew; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular; air pollution; endothelial dyssfunction; arterial stiffness; wood smoke; woodsmoke; biodiesel; RME; biofuel; diesel exhaust;

    Abstract : BackgroundAnthropogenic air pollution is a global health problem estimated to contribute to millions of premature deaths. Exposure to biomass smoke is common due to varying sources, such as wildfires, indoor cooking over open fires, and residential heating from wood stoves. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development and Application of Rotational Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy and Laser-induced Fluorescence for Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Christian Brackmann; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser-induced Fluorescence; Formaldehyde; Biofuel; Laser technology; Laserteknik; Energy research; Energiforskning; Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy; Combustion; Laser diagnostics; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Brackmann;

    Abstract : The thesis concerns the development and application of two laser-based methods for combustion diagnostics: dual broadband rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) and laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). In efforts to increase the usefulness of the CARS technique, the applicability of a method involving a combination of the rotational CARS technique and the closely related vibrational CARS technique was investigated. 3. 3. Deactivation of SCR catalysts - Impact of sulfur and the use of biofuels

    Author : Johanna Englund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cu-SSZ-13; Cu-CHA; Catalyst deactivation; Activity test; DeNOx; Sulfur; NOx reduction; NH3-SCR; FAME; Emission control; HVO; Vanadia; Biofuel;

    Abstract : In a near future, limits on CO2 emissions from vehicles will be introduced, which requires development of more fuel-efficient engines and most likely a transition towards the use of more biofuels. With the implementation of biofuels several issues could arise, one being the lack of fuel standards for these new type of fuels, leading to higher concentrations of catalyst poisons compared to conventional fossil fuels. 4. 4. Biomass and Natural Gas Hybrid Combined Cycles

    Author : Miroslav Petrov; KTH; []
    Keywords : biomass; naturalgas; hybrid; combined cycle; gas turbine; internal combustion engine; simulation; electrical efficiency; total efficiency;

    Abstract : Biomass is one of the main natural resources in Sweden.Increased utilisation of biomass for energy purposes incombined heat and power (CHP) plants can help the country meetits nuclear phase-out commitment. READ MORE

  5. 5. A mechanical model of an axial piston machine

    Author : Rasmus Löfstrand Grip; Ulf Sellgren; Niclas Strömberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multi-body mechanical model; axial piston; Z-shaft; wobble plate; Sophia; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : A mechanical model of an axial piston-type machine with a so-called wobble plate and Z-shaft mechanism is presented. The overall aim is to design and construct an oil-free piston expander demonstrator as a first step to realizing an advanced and compact small-scale steam engine system. READ MORE
