  1. 1. Modelling of biofuel combustion in fixed beds

    Author : Robert Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; packed bed; fixed bed; biofuel; combustion; modelling;

    Abstract : Fixed bed combustion is common is small to medium scale heat production in grate furnaces and domestic boilers. Modelling of these fuel beds can give a better understanding of the conversion process inside them, and provide a tool for analyzing the performance of furnaces and problems related to the fuel bed. 2. 2. Acute cardiovascular effects of biofuel exhaust exposure

    Author : Jon Unosson; Jenny A Bosson; Anders Blomberg; Jeremy P Langrish; Campen Matthew; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular; air pollution; endothelial dyssfunction; arterial stiffness; wood smoke; woodsmoke; biodiesel; RME; biofuel; diesel exhaust;

    Abstract : BackgroundAnthropogenic air pollution is a global health problem estimated to contribute to millions of premature deaths. Exposure to biomass smoke is common due to varying sources, such as wildfires, indoor cooking over open fires, and residential heating from wood stoves. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biomass to Biofuel : Syngas Cleaning and Biomass Feedstock

    Author : Ramiar Sadegh-Vaziri; Matthäus Bäbler; Per Alvfors; Lilian de Martin; Longcheng Liu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas-Solid Reaction; ZnO Sul_dation; Outward Growth; Hollow Particles; Algae Flocculation; PBEs; Fractal Clusters; Restructuring of Clusters; Deposition of Clusters; Primary Particle Aggregation.;

    Abstract : This thesis builds around the idea of a biofuel production process that is comprised of biomass production, biomass gasification, gas cleaning, and fuel production. In this work, we specifically looked into H2S removal as a part of cleaning the producer gas and flocculation of microalgae which is involved in the harvesting of microalgae after biomass production. 4. 4. Industrial Symbiosis for the development of Biofuel Production

    Author : Michael Martin; Mats Eklund; Thomas Budde-Christensen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biofuel; industrial symbiosis; biogas; ethanol; biodiesel; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : In recent years the popularity of biofuels has been transformed from a sustainable option fortransportation to a questionable and criticized method. Many reports have therefore beenproduced to view biofuel production from a life cycle perspective; though results may bemisleading. READ MORE

  5. 5. Rapid measurements of the moisture content in biofuel

    Author : Jenny Nyström; Erik Dahlquist; Stefan Backa; Eva Thorin; Bo Franzon; Clarke Topp; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : radiofrequency measurement; moisture content measurement; fuel characterization; biofuel; time domain measurement; Bulk measurement; Multivariate data analysis;

    Abstract : An increasing number of power plants in Scandinavia are beginning to use biofuel instead of coal or oil. The material in the new fuel is a mixture of woodchips, mostly Pine, Spruce and Salix, bark, GROT (tops and branches from felling waste) and sawdust from sawmills. It is heterogeneous, having a moisture content varying from 15% up to 65%. READ MORE
