  1. 1. Dynamic Covalent Resolution: Applications in System Screening and Asymmetric Synthesis

    Author : Pornrapee Vongvilai; Olof Ramström; Benjamin Miller; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dynamic covalent kinetic combinatorial resolution; Self-screening; Transesterification; Amidation; Enzyme catalysis; Nitroaldol reaction; Secondary alcohols; Strecker reaction; Aminonitriles; Racemase; Enzyme catalytic promiscuity; Chemistry; Kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Combined thermodynamic/kinetic events amount to a kinetically controlled Dynamic Combinatorial Resolution (DCR) process, where the lability of themolecules/aggregates are used to generate dynamics, and the species experiencing the lowest activation energy is selected via kinetic process. Bothinter- and intramolecular processes can be performed using this concept,resulting in complete resolution and associated amplification of the selected species. READ MORE

    Author : Rémi Caraballo; Olof Ramström; Nicolas Giuseppone; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dynamic combinatorial chemistry; dynamic sulfur chemistry; thioglycoside; mutarotation; disulfide metathesis; hemithioacetal formation; 1H STD-NMR; inhibition; phosphine; Concanavalin A; beta-galactosidase; dynamic drug discovery.; Chemistry; Kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the design, formation and evaluation of dynamic systems constructed by means of sulfur-containing reversible reactions, in organic and aqueous media and under mild conditions. In a first part, the synthesis of thioglycoside derivatives, constituting the biologically relevant starting components of the dynamic systems, is described. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aspects of Antisense and Antigene Chemistry of Oligonucleotides Tethered to Intercalators

    Author : Dimitri Ossipov; Jesper Wengel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioorganic chemistry; oligonucleotides; intercalators; ruthenium complexes; RNase H cleavage; photocross-linkage; Bioorganisk kemi; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi; bioorganisk kemi; Biorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Synthetic and physicochemical studies on appropriately functionalized ODN-conjugates have been performed to evaluate their abilities to act as antisense agents against RNA or as intramolecular DNA cross-linking agents. Intercalating aromatic systems [phenazine (Pnz), dipyridophenazine (DPPZ)] and metallointercalators such as Ru2+(phen)2(DPPZ) and Ru2+(tpy)(DPPZ)L [where L = chemically or photochemically labile ligand, phen = phenanthroline, tpy = terpyridine], which are covalently tethered to the oligo-deoxynucleotides (ODNs), have been chosen for this purpose. 5. 5. Studies on nucleic acids chemistry

    Author : Nitin Puri; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi; bioorganisk kemi; Biorganic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided into three parts: Part 1: Synthesis and conformational analysis of cyclic RNAs, and comparison with lariat RNAs modelling the lariat formed during processing of Group II and Nuclear pre-mRNA. Synthesis of a hexameric lariat RNA model with a tetranucleotidyl "2' → 5' loop" and a dinucleotidyl "3'-tail" has been accomplished. READ MORE
