  1. 1. Lead in blood. ICP-MS studies of lead in plasma, blood and erythrocyte proteins

    Author : Ingvar A Bergdahl; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; distribution; plasma; blood; erythrocytes; lead-binding prtoeins; delta-aminlevulinic acid dehydratase; inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry; ALAD; arbetsmiljömedicin; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Lead; toxicity; ICP-MS; Yrkesmedicin;

    Abstract : An inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) method for the determination of lead in blood plasma has been developed. The detection limit was below 0.1 microgram/liter, and the precision 5%. There was no significant difference between levels in plasma and serum. READ MORE

  2. 2. Bioanalysis using capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry : Applied on proteins, protein nanofibrils and polyvinyl alcohol microbubbles

    Author : Leila Josefsson; Åsa Emmer; Ulrika Nilsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; : amyloid; capillary electrophoresis; contrast agents; detection; human blood plasma; ionic liquids; mass spectrometry; microbubbles; polyvinyl alcohol microbubbles; protein nanofibrils; proteins; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The sequencing of the genome of various species, including the human species, have led to increased understanding about how a protein structure is generated, and how specific structures are related to the proteins’ functionality. In paper I and II of this thesis, the folding of proteins in vitro to form hierarchical nanostructures, which in vivo often have a pathological effect, have been studied. READ MORE

  3. 3. Crustacean immunity : Characterization of some crayfish blood proteins

    Author : Pia Gambäck Keyser; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; fysiologisk mykologi; Physiological Mycology;

    Abstract : The cDNA sequence and some properties of a previously purified #x03B2;-1,3-glucan binding protein are reported here. The putative amino acid sequence (predicted molecular mass: 152 kDa) of the protein did not show any significant similarity to any known protein, but an RGD motif and a region with slight similarity to bacterial glucanase was found. 4. 4. Structure and distribution of alpha-1-microglobulin proteins

    Author : Tord Berggård; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proteins; lysine; chromophore; placenta; immunohistochemistry; albumin; prothrombin; plasma; bikunin; lipocalin; alpha-1-microglobulin; protein HC; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes studies of the structure and tissue distribution of alpha-1-microglobulin (a1-m), a member of the lipocalin protein superfamily with immunosuppressive properies. It was shown that a1-m appears in human plasma in five major forms. READ MORE

  5. 5. Multiplexed absolute quantification of blood plasma proteins using targeted proteomics

    Author : David Kotol; Mathias Uhlén; Edfors Fredrik; Roman Zubarev; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mass spectrometry; targeted proteomics; stable isotope standards; recombinant protein standards; absolute quantification; blood plasma; multiplex analysis; plasma profiling; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Abstract : Proteins are the molecular building blocks of all living organisms. They are the functioning actors in metabolism and communication, and they give specific architecture and purpose to all tissues. Their abundance is dynamic and can be interpreted and associated to different physiological states or diseases. READ MORE
