1. Measurements of High-Precision Atomic Data with Applications to Astrophysics and Cosmology
Abstract : Investigations of astrophysical spectra require accurate atomic data, such as wavelengths and transition probabilities. This thesis provides high-precision atomic data for astrophysical and cosmological applications. The measurements have been carried out using Fourier transform spectrometry on light produced in a hollow cathode light source. READ MORE

2. Atomic Spectroscopy for Applications in Energy Technology
Abstract : This thesis intends to provide spectroscopic information which may be of use in the investigation of low-density plasmas. Developed since the 19th century, the spectroscopic approach has proven to be a versatile method for measuring properties in hot gases, such as electron and ion temperatures and densities, the abundance of various elements in the gas, etc. READ MORE

3. Atomic Influences in Stellar Spectroscopy
Abstract : This thesis is a description of how knowledge of atomic physics can be used in a stellar spectrum analysis. Stellar investigations are spectroscopically performed based on wavelengths, intensities and spectral line structure. READ MORE

4. Spectroscopic Studies of the Elements Ba, Fe, Ga, In and Ru
Abstract : New measurements of the elements Ba, Fe, Ga, In and Ru are reported. The analysis of barium contains new wavelengths, improved energy level values and new values of the ionization limit in both Ba I and Ba II. Oscillator strengths and radiative lifetimes in Fe II, as a part of the FERRUM project, are reported. READ MORE

5. Laboratory and stellar spectroscopy of the complex ions Fe+, Mo+, Th+ and U+
Abstract : The new generation of high resolution astronomical instruments such as the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) or the Very Large Telescope (VLT) has renewed the demand for accurate atomic parameters like wavelengths, oscillator strengths and line profiles accompanied by reliable uncertainty estimates. Fourier transform spectroscopy has proven to be a powerful tool when measuring these parameters. READ MORE
