  1. 1. Submicron gas bubbles in water

    Author : Fredrik Eklund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microbubbles; nanobubbles; ultrafine bubbles; digital holographic microscopy; nanoparticle tracking analysis;

    Abstract : Gas bubbles smaller than 1 micrometre in water, commonly referred to as nanobubbles, is a growing field of research and innovation. Applications range from medical imaging and drug delivery to mining industry and environmental remediation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Policy, Institutions and Misallocation

    Author : Yangzhou Yuan; John Hassler; Karl Walentin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Misallocations; Bubbles; Financial Frictions; Fertility Constraints; Economics; nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : The thesis contains three models. Chapter 1 illustrates financial market incompleteness causes misallocations and fluences international trade pattern. Countries with more complete markets tend to specialize in risky sectors. Chapter 2 sets up a cross-generation utility function. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dynamics of bubbles across scales

    Author : Niklas Hidman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DNS; multiscale; lift force; scalar mixing; Bubbly flows; multiphase;

    Abstract : This thesis presents numerical investigations of bubbly flow phenomena across a wide range of relevant spatial and temporal scales. The aim is to increase our understanding of a great variety of underlying phenomena and to facilitate improved predictions of bubbly flows at all relevant scales. READ MORE

  4. 4. Helium Filled Bubbles in Solids : Nucleation, Growth and Swelling

    Author : Odd Runevall; Nils Sandberg; Charlotte Becquart; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Helium; Radiation Damage; DFT; molybdenum; MgO;

    Abstract : When nuclear fuel, fabricated for the purpose of transmuting spent fuel is irradiated, significant amounts of He is produced from alpha particles mainly emitted when 242Cm decays into 238Pu. From irradiation experiments it is known that the presence of He in the solids alters the swelling behaviour of the material. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Extremes of Neutrino Astronomy : From Fermi Bubbles with IceCube to Ice Studies with ARIANNA

    Author : Elisabeth Unger; Allan Hallgren; Olga Botner; Antonio Capone; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; astroparticle physics; neutrino telescopes; IceCube; Fermi bubbles; ARIANNA; horizontal propagation; surface wave propagation; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics; High Energy Physics; Högenergifysik;

    Abstract : The Fermi bubbles are extended regions of hard gamma-ray emission which were discovered with Fermi-LAT data to exist above and below the Galactic Center. In order to explain the origin of the gamma-rays, different theories are proposed. READ MORE
