  1. 1. Numerical prediction of propeller induced hull pressure pulses and noise

    Author : Muye Ge; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; RANS; Transition; IDDES; Cavitation; Pressure pulses; Sheet cavitation inception; Ship noise; k − ω SST; FWH acoustic analogy; Hydroacoustics;

    Abstract : An operating marine propeller is one of the major sources inducing hull pressure pulses, onboard noise and vibration as well as underwater radiated noise. There are rising concerns of environmental impacts and comfort and welfare of passengers and crews due to these negative effects. READ MORE

  2. 2. Surgery and immuno modulation in Crohn’s disease

    Author : Pär Myrelid; Johan D. Söderholm; Peter Andersson; Rune Sjödahl; Bruce George; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Crohn’s disease; surgery; immuno modulation; complications; stoma; anastomosis; DSS; bursting pressure; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease with unknown origin. This study investigates the combined use of surgery and immuno modulation in Crohn’s disease. The outcome of medication and surgery in 371 operations on 237 patients between 1989 and 2006 were evaluated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Abdominal adhesions - clinical impact and experimental prevention

    Author : Bobby Tingstedt; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; anastomotic healing; adhesion prevention; polypeptides; long term follow-up; cost; non-specific abdominal pain; abdominal adhesions; small bowel obstruction; ortopedi; traumatologi; Kirurgi; traumatology; burst pressure;

    Abstract : Intraabdominal adhesions are formed after most operations and a limited number of studies have to examine the long-term spectrum of adhesion-related disorders and the cost associated with this. Only a few numbers of antiadhesive agents are available which, however, do not decrease the actual morbidity that follows intraabdominal adhesions, such as small bowel obstruction, infertility and pain. 4. 4. Inflammation and neutrophil recruitment in healing of colonic anastomosis

    Author : Peter Månsson; Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; experimetnal; anastomotic healing; Inflammation; neutrophil redruitment; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Wound healing is a multistep process with an initial inflammatory response, followed by synthesis of extracellular matrix components and finalized by a repair phase. One main goal was to determine the impact and adhesive mechanisms of neutrophil recruitment in anastomotic healing in the colon. READ MORE

  5. 5. Outcome and prevention strategies in peritoneal adhesion formation

    Author : Fanny Fredriksson; Helene Lilja; Bobby Tingstedt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; peritoneal adhesion prevention; inflammatory cytokines; experimental adhesion model; adhesive small bowel obstruction; adhesion-related morbidity; Barnkirurgi; Pediatric Surgery;

    Abstract : Peritoneal adhesions occur in up to 93% of adults after peritoneal trauma during surgery. Most adhesions are asymptomatic but can cause female infertility, small bowel obstruction (SBO) and chronic abdominal pain. Adhesion prophylaxis is needed to reduce the significant morbidity and increased health care costs resulting from peritoneal adhesions. READ MORE
