1. Influence of water conditions on growth and mineral nutrient uptake of native plants on clacareous soil
Abstract : The studies presented in Papers I to IV illustrate the importance of soil moisture in soil solution chemistry and response of native plants to the changes induced by change in moisture regime. With the help of glasshouse experiments I tried to study the influence of different treatments of soil moisture conditions on the mineral uptake by native plants of calcareous soil. READ MORE

2. The soil as a source material in archaeology. : Theoretical considerations and pragmatic applications
Abstract : This thesis deals with questions on various applications using soils and sediments as sources of information in archaeological research. Human environmental impact on soils and sediments, in terms of pollution, is a well known phenomenon as the industrialisation intensified during historical times and onwards and has left strong pollutive marks. 3. The influence of soil pH on plant and microbial communities in sandy grasslands
Abstract : Sandy, calcareous grasslands are species rich temperate semi-natural grasslands. The species composition in 136 plots was analysed in relation to soil chemistry parameters; extractable P and N, soil pH and lime content. READ MORE

4. Environmental and climatic aspects of the early to mid Holocene calcareous tufa and land mollusc fauna in southern Sweden
Abstract : Although deposition of freshwater calcium carbonates, tufa, has occurred in large areas with carbonate soil or bedrock in Sweden, no tufa formation has been observed in Sweden. To better understand the factors controlling tufa formation in southern Sweden, bio- and lithostratigraphical studies were carried out on (paludal) calcareous tufa deposits in the province of Skåne. 5. Disturbance regimes in dry sandy grasslands – past, present and future
Abstract : A number of sandy grassland habitats of interest for biodiversity conservation can be found in Europe. One such habitat is the threatened xeric sand calcareous grassland, which is home to a large number of endangered species. READ MORE
