  2. 2. Lignin Extraction from Black Liquor - Properties of the Liquors and Sulphur Content in the Lignin

    Author : Ali Seid Moosavifar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat-treatment; lignin precipitation; boiling point elevation; lignin; alkalisation; biofuel; properties; viscosity; Black liquor; combustion of lignin; lignin modification; viscosity correlations.;

    Abstract : Kraft lignin isolated by precipitation can be considered as being a valuable renewable source of energy and material. Removing lignin from black liquor is also advantageous as it decreases the load on the recovery boiler, which is usually the limiting factor in the production of kraft pulp. READ MORE

  3. 3. Inorganic ions in wood chips- Leaching prior to Kraft pulping and effect of calcium on Kraft delignification

    Author : Anna Saltberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; modelling; calcium; Scandinavian softwood; Keywords: Kraft pulping; potassium; birch; eucalyptus; aspen; acidic leaching; oxalate.;

    Abstract : Wood is the main source of Non-Process Elements (NPEs), such as, calcium, potassium, manganese and chloride in Kraft pulp mills. Due to the recirculation of cooking chemicals and water, process disturbances related to the accumulation of NPEs in the process streams are inevitable. READ MORE

  4. 4. Inhibition of light-induced colour reversion of wood-containing papers by means of coating

    Author : Helena Fjellström; Hans Höglund; Magnus Paulsson; Arthur Ragauskas; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-yield pulp; CTMP; birch; light-induced; ageing; photo-stabilising; lignin; coating; pigment; kaolin; calcium carbonate; titanium dioxide; binder; FWA; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The main purpose of this thesis was to find ways to maintain a low level of light‐induceddiscolouration at an increased addition of mechanical and chemimechanical pulps in coated highqualityfine paper and magazine paper grades. Current technology allows the production of highyieldpulps such as thermomechanical and chemimechanical pulps with properties suitable formanufacturing high‐quality paper or paperboard with a low basis weight. 5. 5. On calcium-related problems in kraft pulping of Eucalyptus dunnii

    Author : Vijaya Lakshmi Vegunta; Olena Sevastyanova; Helena Håkansson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Kraft pulping is the most widely used pulping process for producing chemical pulp today. It has been in use for more than 130 years. READ MORE
