  1. 1. Mechanisms of transendothelial and tissue transport in the peritoneum. Experimental studies on rat

    Author : Bert-Inge Rosengren; Njurmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nefrologi; Urologi; hyaluronan; interstitium; blood flow; rat; pore; inhibition; temperature; peritoneal dialysis; permeability; capillary; protein; passive; active; transport; transcytosis; vesicle; Urology; nephrology; small solute;

    Abstract : In the present thesis, the quantitative role of active transport (transcytosis) in bulk transvascular protein movement in vivo was evaluated. Using chemical transcytosis inhibition (N-ethylmaleimide (NEM) and filipin), we were able to show that NEM actually increases endothelial permeability to macromolecules, probably as a result of unspecific toxic action on endothelial cells. 2. 2. Capillary and interstitial transport of fluid and solutes across the peritoneal membrane

    Author : Ola Carlsson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; vascular resistance.; capillary pressure; aquaporins; Capillary permeability; vesicular transport; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi;

    Abstract : According to the three-pore model of peritoneal transport the major exchange pathway between the blood and the peritoneal cavity is represented by “small pores”, permeable to small solutes and water. Osmotically induced fluid flow, as during peritoneal dialysis (PD), is postulated to occur to a great extent through a water-only pathway, whereas proteins are predicted to reach the peritoneal cavity by unidirectional convection across “large pores”. 3. 3. Solute exhange across the alveolo-capillary barrier

    Author : Kristina Nilsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; pulmonary oedema.; nuclear medicine; smoking; permeability; rabbit; DTPA; Pulmonary surfactants; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to study the transfer of solutes across the alveolo-capillary barrier in experimental models of alveolar surfactant dysfunction and lung injury as well as in smokers. Experimental studies were performed in anaesthetized, and mechanically ventilated animals. READ MORE

  4. 4. Transvascular fluid exchange with application to the brain. An experimental study in cat skeletal muscle and brain

    Author : Lis Kongstad; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; intensivvård; capillary filtration coefficient; Capillary permeability; reflection coefficient; brain edema; dural puncture; Anaesthesiology; Anestesiologi; intensive care; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Abstract : This study evaluated transcapillary fluid exchange in the cat brain and in a cat skeletal muscle enclosed in a plethysmograph. A method for determination of capillary permeability (capillary filtration coefficient and reflection coefficient) and effects of transcapillary hydrostatic pressure changes were studied We found that capillary fluid permeability in a tissue can be determined by the capillary filtration coefficient, even when arterial pressure and vascular tone are changed. 5. 5. Neutrophil and endothelial cell-mediated inflammation in abdominal sepsis

    Author : Zhiyi Ding; Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sepsis; lung; neutrophil; endothelial cell; neutrophil extracellular traps; inflammation; capillary; post capillary venules; cytoskeleton; RNAseq;

    Abstract : Sepsis is defined as a life-threatening condition caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Neutrophils are themost abundant innate immune cells of the body and play a key role in septic pathogenesis. READ MORE
