  1. 1. Acute lung injury : incidence and predictors of outcome with special reference to inhaled nitric oxide

    Author : Owe Luhr; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Respiratory distress syndrome; Adult; -drug-therapy; -mortality; Treatment; -outcome; Nitric oxide; therapeutic-use; administration-and-dosage; -adverse effects; Mutagenicity; tests; Chromosome aberrations; Risk factors; Logistic models; Prospective studies.;

    Abstract : This work started out as a critical examination of the initial clinical experiences with inhalation of nitric oxide (INO) to patients with acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in Scandinavia 1991-1994. During this examination, we found that epidemiological data and prognostic factors were lacking in Scandinavia for these patient groups, making it difficult to evaluate new therapies. READ MORE

  2. 2. Vegetation Observation in the Big Data Era : Sentinel-2 data for mapping the seasonality of land vegetation

    Author : Zhanzhang Cai; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sentinel-2; Times-series analysis; Phenology; GPP;

    Abstract : Using satellite remote sensing data for observing vegetation seasonality is an important approach to estimate phenology and carbon uptake of land vegetation. The successful launch of Sentinel-2B in 2017 initiated full operation of the Sentinel-2 twin satellites, and they now provide 10 - 60 m spatial resolution satellite data at 5 days temporal resolution worldwide, releasing approximately 3. 3. 3. Development of an optimization model for the location of biofuel production plants

    Author : Sylvain Leduc; Pål Börjesson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : First generation biofuels have not achieved the expected greenhouse gas emission savings and the production may in some cases compete with food production. Issued from non arable land and certified wood, the production of the second generation biofuels are more adapted to tackle those issues. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sustainable Business Innovation of Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems

    Author : Chi Zhang; Jinyue Yan; Per Alvfors; Bin Chen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PV water pumping; Economic assessment; Ecological benefits; Business model innovation; Case study; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The development of renewable energy technology provides an effective approach to replace fossil fuels for greenhouse gas (GHG) emission. Technological innovation and transfer are the main driving forces in promoting renewable energy usage, because of the better efficiency and economic payback under an emission reduction target.
