  1. 1. Breast cancer : Multifocality, heterogeneity, and related genetic signatures

    Author : Gyula Pekar; Dumanski Jan; Sapino Anna; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : breast; breast cancer multifocality; molecular phenotypes; intertumoral heterogeneity; biobanking; gene copy number aberrations;

    Abstract : Breast carcinoma often exhibits a complex subgross morphology and may occupy a large volume of the breast tissue and show unifocal, multifocal or diffuse growth patterns. Expression of estrogen- and progesterone receptors, HER2 overexpression, tumor grade, and proliferative activity allows us to classify breast carcinoma into molecular subgroups (Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2-type, triple negative, and basal-like). 2. 2. Aspects of Progression in Breast Carcinoma : from ductal carcinoma in situ to invasive cancer

    Author : Wenjing Zhou; Fredrik Wärnberg; Marie-Louise Fjällskog; Carl Blomqvist; Malin Sund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; progression; ductal carcinoma in situ; breast cancer; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : In the past decades our knowledge concerning breast cancer progression from ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) to invasive cancer has grown rapidly. However, molecular factors driving the progression are still largely unknown. READ MORE

  3. 3. Prognosis in carcinoma in situ of the breast

    Author : Fredrik Wärnberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Breast carcinoma; ductal carcinoma in situ; lobular carcinoma in situ; prognosis; histopathological grade; p53; c-erbB-2; Ki 67; Bcl-2; hormone receptors; angiogenesis; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Abstract : The incidence of breast cancer is rising steadily in Sweden and the proportion of carcinoma in situ (CIS) has increased appreciably, most likely due to mammography screening. The aim of this study was twofold: (1) to examine risk factors for subsequent invasive breast carcinoma and breast cancer death after primary ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and (2) to study the biology in the progress between in situ and invasive carcinoma. 4. 4. Studies of gene fusions and copy number alterations in salivary and adnexal neoplasms

    Author : Marta Persson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : cancer genetics; fusion oncogenes; chromosome translocation; MYB; NFIB; CRTC1; MAML2; salivary gland; breast; adenoid cystic carcinoma; mucoepidermoid carcinoma; hidradenoma;

    Abstract : Cancer is a genetic disease caused by the accumulation of genetic changes such as mutations and chromosomal rearrangements. An increasing number of genetic studies of both hematological and solid neoplasms have shown that recurrent chromosome translocations often result in fusion oncogenes. READ MORE
