  1. 1. Biomechanics of the Human Eye and Intraocular Pressure Measurements

    Author : Darja Ljubimova; Anders Eriksson; Anders Eklund; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IOP; GAT; ocular biomechanics; corneoscleral envelope; finite element modelling; parametric analysis; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the reliability of Goldmann-type applanation tonometers (GAT). It deals with the investigation of the relation between predicted intraocular pressure, IOPG and true pressure, IOPT. READ MORE

  2. 2. Intraocular pressure : clinical aspects and new measurement methods

    Author : Gauti Jóhannesson; Christina Lindén; Per Hallberg; Anders Eklund; Boel Bengtsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intraocular pressure; glaucoma; tonometry; ISO; LASEK; CCT; curvature; Ophtalmiatrics; Oftalmiatrik; Ophtalmology; oftalmiatrik;

    Abstract : Intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement is a routine procedure and a fundament in glaucoma care. Elevated IOP is the main risk factor for glaucoma, and to date, reduction of IOP is the only possible treatment. In a retrospective clinical material, the prevalence of open angle glaucoma was estimated on the west coast of Iceland. READ MORE

  3. 3. Prevalence of refractive errors and incidence of myopia in Swedish schoolchildren

    Author : Pelsin Demir; António Filipe Macedo; Karthikeyan Baskaran; Niall Strang; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Refractive error; myopia; prevalence; incidence; risk factors; children; fovea; macula; autorefractor; aberrometer; synfel; refraktion; myopi; barn; prevalens; incidens; riskfaktorer; fovea; makula; autorefractor; aberrometer; Optometry; Optometri;

    Abstract : PurposeThe aim of this thesis was to investigate the prevalence, incidence, and risk factors for myopia development in a cohort of Swedish schoolchildren. The specific goals were: - to recruit a cohort of children aged 8 to 16 years and to follow the cohort over a period of 24 months with regular study visits; - to investigate the predictive value of relative peripheral error and other optical parameters for the prevalence and incidence of myopia; - to determine and investigate the predictive value of genetic and environmental factors, and structural characteristics of the eye to the incidence of myopia. 4. 4. Cataract surgery : complications and techniques

    Author : Anthony Chang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cataract surgery is one of the most common surgical procedures performed worldwide. Posterior capsul opacification (PCO) remains the most common postoperative complication that can deteriorate vision. READ MORE

  5. 5. Malpositioned and dislocated intraocular lenses : management, complications and surgical repositioning

    Author : Laura Armonaite; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cataract surgery (exchange of the non-transparent crystalline lens with an IOL) is the most frequent surgery in Sweden, accounting for more than 130000 surgeries per year. Therefore, complications associated with cataract surgery affect a significant number of patients. READ MORE
