1. Degenerative cervical myelopathy: Surgical treatment, imaging evaluation, and outcome
Abstract : Degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) is the most common cause of spinal cord impairment in adults worldwide. The overall aims of this thesis were to compare patient-reported clinical outcomes, adverse events, and cost-effectiveness between decompression alone and decompression with fusion; evaluate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based sagittal alignment measurements; determine postoperative improvement rates and potential predictors of surgical outcome; and compare the patient-derived modified Japanese Orthopaedic Association (P-mJOA) scale with the European Myelopathy Score (EMS) for the assessment of DCM. 2. Whiplash injury : a clinical, radiographic and psychological investigation

The annual incidence is estimated at 1/1000 inhabitants and the prevalence at 1%. The cause of chronic symptoms after whiplash injury is still unknown and no effective treatment has been presented so far. READ MORE

3. Female and Male Whole Spinal Alignment and Cervical Kinematic Responses in Rear Impacts
Abstract : The susceptibility of women to Whiplash Associated Disorders (WADs) has been the focus of numerous epidemiologic studies. Summarising the epidemiologic WAD studies, women were found to be at three times higher risk of sustaining WADs than men. READ MORE

4. Planning of Environments for People with Physical Disabilities Using Computer Aided Design
Abstract : In the area of environment adaptations for people with physical disabilities, it is of vital importance that the design is optimized considering the human-environment interactions. All involved persons in such a planning process must be given sufficient support in understanding the information, so that everyone can participate actively. READ MORE

5. Does spinal alignment influence car occupant responses? -The influence of variation in whole spinal alignment patterns on vertebral kinematics under rear impact conditions-
Abstract : The susceptibility of women to Whiplash Associated Disorders (WADs) has been the focus of numerous epidemiologic studies. Summarising the epidemiologic WAD studies, women were found to be subject to up to three times higher risk of sustaining WADs than men. READ MORE
