  1. 1. Adaptive Finite Element Methods for Optimal Control Problems

    Author : Karin Kraft; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dual weighted residual; adaptive; Newton method; variational inequality; vehicle dynamics.; multilevel algorithm; discontinuous Galerkin method; a posteriori error estimate; finite element method; optimal control; control constraint;

    Abstract : In this thesis we study the numerical solution of optimal control problems. The problems considered consist of a systemof differential equations, the state equations, which are governed bya control variable. The goal is to determine the states and controls which minimize a given cost functional. READ MORE

  2. 2. The N-Player War of Attrition in the Limit of Infinitely Many Players

    Author : Peter Helgesson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The topic of this thesis is a selected problem in game theory, namely the N-player War of Attrition. The War of Attrition is a well established game theoretic model that was first introduced in the 2-player case by John Maynard Smith. READ MORE

  3. 3. What characterizes persons with high and low GHG emissions? Lifestyles, well-being and values among Swedish households

    Author : David Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Greenhouse gas emissions; sustainable consumption; subjective-wellbeing; materialism; sustainable consumption;

    Abstract : Global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions need to be reduced to around a third of the current level before 2050 and approach zero at the end of the century if we are likely to reach the twodegree target. Sweden has sometimes been promoted as a model for the transition towards sustainable emission levels, with reductions of 20 percent between 1990 and 2012, but when embedded emissions from imported goods are accounted for (and exports are excluded) the development instead show an increase by at least 15 percent between 1993 and 2010. 4. 4. Some Applications of Integral Formulas in Several Complex Variables

    Author : Jörgen Boo; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The thesis gives three examples of how integral formulas can be used in complex analysis. We say that a set S in Cn is quadratically convex if through any point in its complement there is a quadratic hypersurface that does not intersect S. READ MORE

  5. 5. On Alpha-decay and Alpha Clustering

    Author : Gordana Dodig Crnkovic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The half-life for the Alpha-decay of 212 Po is calculated within a harmonic oscillator representation. Clustering induced by the nuclear interaction appear by considering alarge configuration space. The role of clusterisation in the alpha-decay process isclearly demonstrated. READ MORE
