  1. 1. Flocculation with Polyelectrolytes in Latex and Microbial Systems

    Author : Leif Eriksson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; floc strength; shear sensitivity; fractal dimension; floc structure; patch flocculation; adhesion; bridging; flocculation; charge compensation; adsorption; ionic strength; molecular weight; charge density; Cationic polyelectrolytes; latex; bacteria; activ; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Adsorption of cationic polyelectrolytes onto polystyrene latices was studied as function of polymer chemical composition and molecular weight, polymer and surface charge density and ionic strength. The ratio between polymer charges and surface charges was close to one when distances between polymer and surface charges were equal. READ MORE

  2. 2. Noise Properties of the Single Electron Transistor

    Author : Serguei Kafanov; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Low-Frequency noise; Shot Noise; 1 f noise; Single Electron Transistor; charge sensitivity; SET; electrometer; Coulomb blockade; radio-frequency Single Electron Transistor; RF-SET;

    Abstract : The Single Electron Transistor (SET) is a sensitive electrometer with a charge sensitivityultimately limited by noise. In this thesis we present measurements of noiseproperties and charge sensitivity of the radio-frequency Single Electron Transistor. READ MORE

  3. 3. DNA-Assisted Immunoassays for High-Performance Protein Analyses

    Author : Junhong Yan; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Ulf Landegren; Christer Wingren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proximity ligation assay; magnetic beads; conjugation; phosphorylation; affinity binder; protein complexes; recombinant binder; sensitivity; specificity; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biotechnology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär bioteknik;

    Abstract : Proteins play important roles in most cellular functions, such as, replication, transcription regulation, signal transduction, for catalyzing chemical reaction, etc. Technologies developed to identify proteins rely either on observing their own properties such as charge, size, mass to charge ratio or sequence composition; or on using affinity reagents that recognize specific protein targets. 4. 4. Studies of acoustic waves, noise and charge pumping using single-electron devices

    Author : Martin Gustafsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; single-electron pump; single-electron transistor; surface acoustic wave; single-electron devices; charge pumping; TLF; SINIS turnstile; electrometer; two-level fluctuator; single-photon detector; noise; SAW; SET;

    Abstract : This thesis covers a range of experiments on single-electron devices, electrical circuits that utilize the discreetness of the electron charge. The Single-Electron Transistor (SET) is of special importance among these, being the most sensitive electrometer demonstrated, and sufficiently mature to serve as a building block in sensors and detectors for physical phenomena that can be transformed into charge signals. 5. 5. Gas sensitivity of modified metal-oxide-semiconductor devices

    Author : Eva Hedborg Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Gas sensitive thin metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) structures have been used to study the effect of different modifications of the gate metal. In order to increase the selectivity of the gas sensor photoresist was used as a gas permeable membrane. READ MORE
