  1. 1. Making Metal Making Circulation and Workshop Practices in the Swedish Metal Trades, 1730–1775

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Måns Jansson; Uppsala universitet.; [2017]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; metal trades; eighteenth century; knowledge; skills; circulation; strategies; tactics; cutlery; manufacturing; division of labour; Ekonomisk historia; Economic History;

    Abstract : This dissertation is concerned with the making of metal making. It explores how skills, knowledge, and artefacts were circulated and grounded within the Swedish metal trades during the period ca. 1730 to 1775. It also analyses how these processes were related to different ways of organising practices of work. READ MORE

  2. 2. The thermohaline circulation during the Last Glacial Maximum and in the Present-Day climate

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Meteorology, Stockholm University

    Author : Maxime Ballarotta; Stockholms universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ocean model; circulation; LGM; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Abstract : The thermohaline circulation (THC) corresponds to the large time- and spatial-scales ocean circulation associated with the transport of heat and salt, and is known to be an important factor controlling the climate variability. The large scales involved in the THC make it difficult to observe, and therefore the synergy of numerical models and climate proxy reconstructions is particularly relevant to study the characteristics of this circulation in the present and past climates. 3. 3. Skin circulation measured by fluorescein flowmetry

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Molecular Medicine and Surgery

    Author : Eduardo Patricio Proaño Romero; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2011]

    Abstract : Fluorescein flowmetry (FF) is an indicator dilution technique using sodium fluorescein as an indicator. If the tissue is illuminated with U-V light or blue light, after a bolus injection of the dye, fluorescence is seen in the tissue, and can be measured either photographically or by the video technique. 4. 4. Nitric oxide An ally in extracorporeal circulation?

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Vilyam Melki; Uppsala universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Simulated extracorporeal circulation; Inflammation; Nitric oxide; Leukocyte activation; Staphylococcus aureus; Glyceryl trinitrate; Postoperative infection; Thorax Surgery; Thoraxkirurgi;

    Abstract : Many complications associated with heart surgery are due to the negative effects of extracorporeal circulation (ECC). Some of these complications may be attributed to ECC-induced activation of inflammation and coagulation pathways. READ MORE

  5. 5. Some aspects of the Atlantic ocean circulation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Meteorologiska institutionen (MISU)

    Author : Rezwan Mohammad; Stockholms universitet.; [2005]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oceanography; Thermohaline circulation; Vertical mixing; Altimetry; Nordic Seas; NATURAL SCIENCES Earth sciences Atmosphere and hydrosphere sciences Meteorology; NATURVETENSKAP Geovetenskap Atmosfärs- och hydrosfärsvetenskap Meteorologi;

    Abstract : The present thesis deals with the ocean circulation from two viewpoints: Pro primo, the dependence of the global thermohaline ocean circulation (THC) on the parameterization of the small-scale vertical mixing processes in the interior of the ocean, and, pro secundo, the dynamics of the circulation in the Nordic Seas. The THC is found be crucially dependent on the parameterization of the small-scale vertical mixing, two types of which have been compared: The commonly used constant diffusivity and a, physically more plausible, stability-dependent parameterization.
