1. Latex Colloid Dynamics in Complex Dispersions : Fluorescence Microscopy Applied to Coating Color Model Systems
Abstract : Coating colors are applied to the base paper in order to maximize the performance of the end product. Coating colors are complex colloidal systems, mainly consisting of water, binders, and pigments. To understand the behavior of colloidal suspensions, an understanding of the interactions between its components is essential.. READ MORE

2. Colour-changing textile coatings containing multi-layered mica pigments : an experimental study
Abstract : This study investigates the possibility of producing angle-dependent colour-changing textiles with thickened polyurethane (PU)-based aqueous dispersion containing multi-layered mica pigments using a direct coating method. Colour changing textile coatings with the latest generation of layered mica pigment (EP) have a promising future for functional purposes such as authentication and aesthetic eye-catching applications. 3. Enhancing UV-protection of clear coated wood by utilizing reactive UV-absorber and epoxyfunctionalized soybean oil
Abstract : This work presents the development of a new pretreatment for clear coated wood, that aims to increase the photoprotection of exterior wood products, and at the same time make the system more environmentally friendly. The pretreatment comprises the reactive UV absorber 2-hydroxy-4(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-benzophenone (HEPBP), which has a primary epoxy group that can be covalently attached to the hydroxyl groups of the wood substrate. 5. Modification of Paper into Conductive Substrate for Electronic Functions : Deposition, Characterization and Demonstration
Abstract : The thesis investigates the modification of paper into an ion- and electron-conductive material, and as a renewable material for electronic device. The study stretches from investigating the interaction between the cellulosic materials and the conducting polymer to demonstrating the performance of the conductive paper by printing the electronic structure on the surface of the conductive paper.
