  1. 1. Enabling and Coercive Control : Coexistence in the Case of Banking

    Author : Cecilia Ekström; Tobias Johansson; Gabriella Wennblom; Magnus Hansson; Anders Hersinger; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Enabling control; coercive control; coexistence of control; attitudinal outcomes of control; management control; regulation; banking;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on subjects of control and attitudinal outcomes of formalized control in organizations. Previous research have concluded contradicting results of whether formalized control is positive or negative for the employees and propose that not only degree of formalization, but also type of formalization, can explain attitudinal outcomes. 2. 2. Narratives of Change : Youth Participation in Vietnamese Development Programs

    Author : Yên T. Mai; Tora Holmberg; Suruchi Thapar-Björkert; Elina Oinas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; participation; development; capacity-building; civil society; Vietnam; civic engagement; public sphere; narratives; frames; boundary; youth; collective action; Confucianism; authoritarianism; Sociologi; Sociology;

    Abstract : In development studies, the definition of what good "development" entails remains a contentious topic. In particular, the "participatory turn" in development practices has faced criticism due to its vague conceptualization, underlying assumptions, and often paradoxical outcomes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Drying of Multicomponent Liquid Films

    Author : Fabio Luna; KTH; []
    Keywords : ternary mixture; falling film; diffusion equation; gas-phase control; liquid-phase control; selectivity; stability analysis; polymeric solution; evaporation; azeotrope; batch drying; continuous drying;

    Abstract : The convective drying of thin layers of multicomponentliquid mixtures into an inert gas, and the influence ofdifferent process controlling mechanisms on drying selectivityis studied. Drying experiments under gas-phase-controlledconditions are performed by low intensity evaporation, fromfree liquid surfaces, of ternary mixtures without non-volatilesolutes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sex, Molecules, and Gene control : Ecophysiological and evolutionary aspects of key sponge species from Antarctic shallow waters and the deep sea

    Author : Vasiliki Koutsouveli; Paco Cárdenas; Anders Backlund; Ana Riesgo; Cassandra G. Extavour; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Porifera; Demospongiae; Geodia spp.; Phakellia ventilabrum; reproduction; gametogenesis; Antarctica; deep sea; sponge grounds; histology; molecular machinery; electron microscopy; RNA-seq; proteomics; lipidomics; Farmakognosi; Pharmacognosy;

    Abstract : Very little is known about the ecophysiological aspects of Porifera (sponges) from Antarctica and North Atlantic, even though they are keystone components of these habitats. Being the earliest diverging metazoan lineage, sponges also play a fundamental role in our understanding of animal evolution. READ MORE

  5. 5. Duplicate systems : investigating unintended consequences of information technology in organizations

    Author : Henrik Wimelius; Jonny Holmström; Lars Mathiassen; Jan Damsgaard; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; IS and organization; adoption of IT; assimilation of IT; change; dialectics; paradox; duplicate systems; contradiction; unintended consequences; information systems; Informatics; Informatik;

    Abstract : The organizational consequences of information technology (IT) constitutes a core focus in information systems (IS) research. The relationship between organizations and IT has received considerable attention by IS researchers in order to develop knowledge related to how and why organizations and IT are related. READ MORE
