    Abstract : Colour vision was of fundamental importance in modernist art. One reason its significance has been studied so little with regard to Russian art is that Soviet archives were inaccessible until the early 1990s. This work is the first close study on a so-called laboratory in an art- and science institute in the Soviet Union in the 1920s. READ MORE

  2. 2. Changeability as a quality in textile design

    Author : Riikka Talman; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : The tendency to wear out and change is inherent in most materials, but – aside from a few exceptions – has been considered to be undesirable by both the industry and consumers. The work presented in this licentiate thesis suggests that, due to change in some form being an inherent property of textiles, it may be viable to look for alternative ways of designing and perceiving textiles that accept change as one of their qualities. 3. 3. Designing for changeability in textiles

    Author : Riikka Talman; Hanna Landin; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : The tendency to wear out and change is inherent in most materials, yet textiles are usually designed to retain a single expression. Within an experimental, practical work, materials that are inherently changeable were used to create woven and knitted structures in order to approach textiles from the perspective of changeability and explore what this might mean for the field of textile design. 4. 4. Composing over time, temporal patterns : in Textile Design

    Author : Barbara Jansen; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; temporal patterns; textile design; Textiles and fashion; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis investigates through practice a new field of textile design exploring the visual effects of moving light as a continuous time-based medium. Thereby, the textile design pattern reveals its composition, not in one moment of time any more, but in fact over time. READ MORE

  5. 5. Composing over time, temporal patterns : in Textile Design

    Author : Barbara Jansen; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; temporal patterns; textile design; Textiles and Fashion General ; Textil och mode generell ;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is a first attempt investigating a new field, exploring the visual effects of movement using light as a continuous time-based medium. Composing over time, temporal patterns - in Textile Design is a practice based research project that investigates the following research question: What does it mean, if time and change – constant movement – becomes part of the textile design expression? The research question has been investigated in a number of experiments that explore the visual effects of movement using light integrated into textile structures as a medium. READ MORE
