  1. 1. Laser Sheet Imaging and Image Analysis for Combustion Research

    Author : Rafeef Abu-Gharbieh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-linear diffusion filtering; optically dense sprays; curve evolution propagation; image sequence analysis; laser induced fluorescence; geodesic paths; level sets; LIF; optical density; spray characterization; flame propagation; laser; particle image velocimetry; spectroscopy; combustion engines; spray diagnostics; Mie scattering; flame fronts; laser attenuation; tracking; combustion diagnostics; curve matching; combustion; laser sheet imaging; PIV; time resolved imaging; segmentation;

    Abstract : This Thesis presents techniques that aim at exploiting the potential of image analysis and processing in order to solve problems of data reduction, interpolation, quantification, and interpretation within the field of experimental laser imaging of combustion processes. Combustion is the most important source of energy for power generation, heating, and transportation in the world today and its strong dominance is projected to continue in the foreseeable future. 3. 3. Development and Application of Non-linear Mid-infrared Laser Spectroscopy for Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Zhiwei Sun; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Degenerate four-wave mixing; Polarization spectroscopy; Mid-infrared; Non-linear laser spectroscopy; Laser diagnostics; Combustion; Flame; HITRAN; Concentration; Temperature; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Sun;

    Abstract : The work reported in this thesis involved the development and application of two novel infrared non-linear laser techniques, namely mid-infrared polarization spectroscopy (IRPS) and mid-infrared degenerate four-wave mixing (IR-DFWM) to combustion diagnostics. These two techniques meet the needs of species concentration detection in combustion environments, especially for those species lacking accessible electronic (one-photon) transitions in the ultraviolet (UV) or visible spectral region. 4. 4. Laser-Induced Emission Techniques for Concentration and Temperature Probing in Combustion

    Author : Gustaf Särner; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thermographic phosphor; phosphor; phosphorescence; Laser Combustion Diagnostics; Laser-Spectroscopy; LIF; spectroscopy; Thermometry; LIP; Laser-Induced Fluorescence;

    Abstract : The work in this thesis is aimed at the development of temperature and gas concentration measurement techniques in laser diagnostics for use in combustion research. The techniques are developed as tools for the combustion community to meet future demands on combustion efficiency and legislation of exhaust gases. READ MORE

  5. 5. Application of Laser Techniques for Combustion Studies

    Author : Marcus Aldén; Fysiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Keywords: Laser-induced fluorescence; Raman Spectroscopy; Coherent anti-Stokes Raman Scattering CARS ; flames; laserspectroscopy; dye laser; lidar; remote sensing; combustion; air pollution; radicals; optical multichannel analyzer.; Fysicumarkivet A:1983:Aldén;

    Abstract : The aim for this work has been to increase the applicability of laser spectroscopy techniques for studies of combustion processes, both what regards in-flame experiments, exhaust-gas analysis and remote sensing of the atmosphere. Raman spectroscopy has been used for analysis of exhaust gases from flames, model fires of wood and for inflame measurements. READ MORE
