  1. 1. Oxygen content in semi-closed rebreathing apparatuses for underwater use : Measurements and modeling

    Author : Oskar Frånberg; Ola Eiken; Mikael Gennser; Lars-Åke Brodin; John Clarke; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diving; rebreather; underwater breathing apparatus; unmanned testing; hyperbaric; metabolic simulator; scuba; semi-closed; Medicinsk teknologi; Medical Technology;

    Abstract : The present series of unmanned hyperbaric tests were conducted in order to investigate the oxygen fraction variability in semi-closed underwater rebreathing apparatuses. The tested rebreathers were RB80 (Halcyon dive systems, High springs, FL, USA), IS-Mix (Interspiro AB, Stockholm, Sweden), CRABE (Aqua Lung, Carros Cedex, France), and Viper+ (Cobham plc, Davenport, IA, USA). 2. 2. Nonlinear Mixed Effects Modeling of Combination Therapies in Oncology

    Author : Marcus Baaz; Stiftelsen Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centrum för Industrimatematik (FCC); []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacol- ogy; Radiation Therapy; Oncology; Mathematical Modeling; Combination Therapy; Nonlinear Mixed Effects;

    Abstract : It has been shown that simultaneous administration of two or more anticancer agents can have a beneficial effect on cancer patients. This type of treatment is called combination therapy and is nowadays commonly used in the fight against cancer. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantitative methods for tumor imaging with dynamic PET

    Author : Ida Häggström; Anne Larsson; Mikael Karlsson; Lennart Johansson; Jens Sörensen; Magnus Dahlbom; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dynamic positron emission tomography; PET; tumor imaging; compartment modeling; Monte Carlo; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Abstract : There is always a need and drive to improve modern cancer care. Dynamic positron emission tomography (PET) offers the advantage of in vivo functional imaging, combined with the ability to follow the physiological processes over time. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multiscale Modeling in Systems Biology : Methods and Perspectives

    Author : Adrien Coulier; Andreas Hellander; Mark Chaplain; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; computational systems biology; high performance computing; Bayesian inference; stochastic simulation; cell mechanics; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap;

    Abstract : In the last decades, mathematical and computational models have become ubiquitous to the field of systems biology. Specifically, the multiscale nature of biological processes makes the design and simulation of such models challenging. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electropermutation assisted by ion-exchange textile : removal of nitrate from drinking water

    Author : Carl-Ola Danielsson; Anders Dahlkild; Mårten Behm; Anna Velin; Gerald Pourcelly; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ion-exchange textile; Ion-exchange membrane; Electropermutation; Electroextraction; Electrodialysis; Electrodeionisation; Modeling; Conducting spacer; Nitrate removal; Water treatment; Water dissociation; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Increased levels of nitrate in ground water have made many wells unsuitable as sources for drinking water. In this thesis an ion-exchang eassisted electromembrane process, suitable for nitrate removal, is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. READ MORE
