  1. 1. Resonances of Dirac Operators

    Author : Jimmy Kungsman; Wolfgang Staubach; Roman Schubert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semiclassical analysis; Dirac operator; resonances; Poisson trace formula; scattering theory; complex absorbing potential; pseudodifferential operator; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of a summary of four papers dealing with resonances of Dirac operators on Euclidean 3-space. In Paper I we show that the Complex Absorbing Potential (CAP) method is valid in the semiclassical limit for resonances sufficiently close to the real line if the potential is smooth and compactly supported. 2. 2. Chemical and Dermatological Aspects of UV-absorbing Compounds

    Author : Isabella Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Contact Allergy; Photoallergy; Dibenzoylmethane; Octocrylene; Ketoprofen; Scytonemin;

    Abstract : ABSTRACT The sun’s UV radiation is necessary for the existence of life on earth. However, too much UV exposure can lead to the development of skin cancer. Therefore, sunscreens are often used by the general population as protection from excessive UV radiation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Photoactive EDA complexes in visible light driven aerobic oxidations

    Author : August Runemark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; visible light; EDA complex; aerobic oxidation; photochemical; organic synthesis;

    Abstract : Organic synthesis driven by photochemical activation has been proven very promising in a range of scenarios within academia and industry. The emergence of photoredox catalysis has fueled an ever-growing interest in the use of visible light as a convenient energy source for a variety of radical reactions otherwise difficult to achieve. 4. 4. (Photo)electrochemical Water Oxidation: From Catalysis to Functional Device

    Author : Hao Yang; Licheng Sun; Marc Koper; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; artificial photosynthesis; solar fuels; water oxidation; nucleophilic attack; conjugated microporous polymer; host-guest chemistry; photoanode; perovskites; artificiell fotosyntes; solbränslen; vattenoxidation; nukleofil attack; konjugerad mikroporös polymer; värd-gästkemi; fotoanoder; perovskiter; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The key challenge within artificial photosynthesis is achieving efficient electro- or photo-driven water oxidation catalysis, a necessary process to supply the protons for the reduction reactions, thereby enabling solar fuel production. To facilitate efficient water (photo)electrolysis for solar fuel production, this thesis focuses on two aspects: 1) elucidating the O-O bond formation mechanism and developing efficient, stable, and economical water oxidation catalysts (WOCs); 2) exploring stable, low-cost, light-absorbing photoanode materials that have suitable band structures and excellent charge diffusion properties. 5. 5. Complicated Shadows : the Aesthetic Significance of Simulated Illumination in Digital Games

    Author : Simon Niedenthal; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Interaction design; Game design; Game studies; Game aesthetics; Game lighting; Lighting design;

    Abstract : A common feature of many digital games is that they are played in a simulated 3D environment, a game world. Simulated illumination is the lighting designed into a game world. This thesis explores the influence of simulated illumination in digital games upon the emotion and behavior of the player. READ MORE
