  1. 1. Designing the Edge : An Inquiry into the Psychospatial Nature of Meaning in the Architecture of the Urban Waterfront

    Author : Konstantinos Ioannidis; Katja Grillner; Lars-Henrik Ståhl; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban design and theory; spatial psychology; spatial meaning; compositional strategies; formulative logic; waterfront design and spatial organization; psychospatial reading; transformational relations; design of the edge; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Abstract : The initial goal of this effort is to develop a discussion on urban design process and thinking that acknowledges the needs of places with meaning in the design of the urban waterfront. The thesis addresses the fact that the problematic of the coastal formulation is intricate, comprising not only aspects related to the spatial organization and design of its domain but also shared properties originated by the presence and movement of the perceiving subject in the area. 2. 2. New strategies for characterizing Prussian blue analogues

    Author : Ida Nielsen; William Robert Brant; Andrew Kentaro Inge; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Prussian blue analogues; positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy; Mössbauer spectroscopy; sodium-ion batteries; neutron diffraction; octahedral tilting; sodium iron hexacyanoferrate; Kemi med inriktning mot materialkemi; Chemistry with specialization in Materials Chemistry;

    Abstract : Prussian blue analogues (PBAs), AxM[M’(CN)6]1–y·zH2O, are used in many different applications, such as energy storage, due to their tunable composition and structural diversity. To understand the material properties, it is important to accurately determine the composition and atomic structure of these materials. READ MORE

  3. 3. Skirting the Subject : Pursuing Language in the Works of Adrienne Rich, Susan Griffin, and Beverly Dahlen

    Author : Alan Shima; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Feminist theory; feminist poetics; women s language; Adrienne Rich; Susan Griffin; Beverly Dahlen; Literature; Litteraturvetenskap; English language;

    Abstract : In this study I delve into the strategic certainty and theoretical quandary that characterize both the practice and the assessment of “women’s language.” My contention is that “women’s language” is a composite of hypothetical speculations, political intentions, interpretive practices, and ethical convictions. 4. 4. Quantitative studies of changes in microstructure and activity during ageing of supported catalysts

    Author : Torben Pingel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; supported nanoparticle catalyst; scanning electron microscopy SEM ; quantitative; bimetallic catalyst; ageing properties; CO oxidation; FIB SEM; specimen preparation; particle size distribution PSD ; transmission electron microscopy TEM ;

    Abstract : Catalytic converters have substantially contributed to the improvement of air quality in populated areas in the last decades by abatement of the emission of hazardous componentssuch as CO, unburned hydrocarbons and NOx. However, due to the exposure to high temperature and different components in the exhaust gas, the performance of the catalysts degrades with time. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aerosol Generated Core-shell Nanoparticles : Synthesis and Characterization

    Author : Markus Snellman; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aerosol technology; core-shell particles; nanoparticles; Janus particles;

    Abstract : Aerosol technology is a promising platform to synthesize and study core-shellnanoparticles - a multi-elemental nanoparticle system where the core of one material is covered by a shell of another material. In this thesis, two distinctly separate strategies have been explored to synthesize core-shell nanoparticles by aerosol methods: physical vapor deposition (PVD) by evaporation, and surface segregation via thermal treatment.
