  1. 1. Transition metal oxofluorides comprising lone pair elements : Synthesis and Characterization

    Author : Shichao Hu; Mats Johnsson; Jürgen Köhler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lone pairs; oxofluorides; low-dimensional compounds; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Within the family of transition metal oxochlorides/bromides containing lone pair elements, the transition metal cations often adopt a low-dimensional arrangement such as 2D layers, 1D chains or 0D clusters. The reduced dimensionality is attributed to the presence of stereochemically active lone pairs which are positioned in the non-bonding orbital and will not participate in bond formation and instead act as structural spacers that help to separate coordination polyhedra around transition metal cations from forming three dimensional networks. 3. 3. In Situ Stress Conditions Across Clay Slopes. A Study Comprising Seven Test Sites

    Author : Karin Rankka; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The in situ stress conditions in clay slopes differ mainly depending on the stability of the slope, the soil properties, the pore pressure situation and also on which part of the slope is studied. The objective of the study is to investigate the in situ stress conditions in slopes and how they vary with seasonal variations in pore pressures and external loading conditions, such as the excavation and filling of earth material. 4. 4. Design and Synthesis of Novel HIV-1 Protease Inhibitors Comprising a Tertiary Alcohol in the Transition-State Mimic

    Author : Jenny Ekegren; Anders Hallberg; Daniel Rich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Chemistry; HIV AIDS; HIV-1 protease inhibitor; transition-state mimic; tertiary alcohol; palladium; cross-coupling; aminocarbonylation; microwave; molybdenum hexacarbonyl; Kemi;

    Abstract : HIV-1 protease inhibitors are important in the most frequently used regimen for the treatment of HIV/AIDS, the highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). For patients with access to this treatment, an HIV infection is no longer lethal, but rather a manageable, chronic infection. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sensing Atmospheric Water Vapor Using Radio Waves: Studies of the 2, 3 and 4-D Structure of the Atmospheric Water Vapor Using Ground-based Radio Techniques Comprising the Global Positioning System, Microwave Radiometry and Very Long Baseline Interferometry

    Author : Lubomir Gradinarsky; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microwave radiometry; global positioning system GPS ; water vapor; tomography; meteorology; propagation delay; delay gradients; climate;

    Abstract : The radio wave propagation time, the primary observable in the geodetic techniques Global Positioning System (GPS) and Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) is affected by the presence of the atmospheric gases. By using appropriate modeling in the post-processing of the recorded phase measurements, together with local meteorological information, it is possible to estimate the total amount of atmospheric water vapor.
