  2. 2. Computational Characterization of Mixing in Flows

    Author : Erik D. Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mixing; hyperbolicity; shadowing; finite elements; flow simulation; a priori error estimates; Stokes equations; point location; multigrid; refinements; mixing;

    Abstract : The major theme of this thesis is mathematical aspects of fluid mixing in the case when diffusion is negligible, which is commonly refered to as ’mixing by stirring’ or ’mixing by chaotic advection’ in the engineering literature. In this case the mixing is driven by a velocity field and is characterized by the flow generated by the velocity field. READ MORE

  3. 3. Computational methods for on-line shape inspection

    Author : Per Bergström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scientific Computing; Teknisk-vetenskapliga beräkningar;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis describes computational methods that solve problems occurring in industrial on-line shape quality inspection of produced items. These items are measured and compared with their corresponding CAD object. The meaning of on-line is that the inspection is done on-line in the production line, i.e. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Game of Health Search

    Author : Ann-Marie Eklund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; health information search; internet usage; vardguiden.se; 1177.se; trust; rationality; error analysis; stylistics; computational linguistics; language technology; natural language processing;

    Abstract : Almost two of three Swedes use internet to search for health related information on diseases, treatments and care givers. Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets are increasingly used to carry out these activities, and it raises the question on how a health information portal should behave to support the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s information seekers. 5. 5. The Search for Syntax : Investigating the Syntactic Knowledge of Neural Language Models Through the Lens of Dependency Parsing

    Author : Artur Kulmizev; Joakim Nivre; Roger Levy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; syntax; language models; dependency parsing; universal dependencies; Datorlingvistik; Computational Linguistics;

    Abstract : Syntax — the study of the hierarchical structure of language — has long featured as a prominent research topic in the field of natural language processing (NLP). Traditionally, its role in NLP was confined towards developing parsers: supervised algorithms tasked with predicting the structure of utterances (often for use in downstream applications). READ MORE
