  1. 1. Biotransformations of Turpentine Constituents : Oxygenation and Esterification

    Author : Marica Lindmark-Henriksson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Picea abies; Pinaceae; Essential oils composition; Terpene alcohol; Hemiacetal; Hemiacetal ester; TMP-turpentine; Monoterpene; alpha-pinene; beta-pinene; Limonene; Verbenol; Pinocarveol; Borneol; Myrtenol; Suspension cell culture; Biotransformation; ;

    Abstract : This thesis describes methods to obtain value–addedcompounds from TMP-turpentine obtained from the spruce, Piceaabies. The methodology focuses on biotransformations using twoapproaches: an oxygenation approach (i.e. oxygenation ofterpene hydrocarbons by cell cultures) and an esterificationapproach (i. READ MORE

  2. 2. Constituents of pine heartwood : 26 : A general discussion

  3. 3. Effect of Wood Constituents Oxidation of Unsaturated Fatty Acids

    Author : Alireza Salehi Movahed; Mats K.G. Johansson; Mats Johnssson; Karin Jacobsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wood constituents; oil; oxidation; unstatured fatty acids; lignin; model lignin compounds; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : This work presents the mechanisms of free radicals in a model system between fatty acids oxidation process and wood components. The aim is to create a better understanding of new environmentally friendly materials for exterior wood protection. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chromatographic separation of wood constituents

    Author : Niklas Westerberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biorefinery; mathematical modelling.; Norway spruce; separation; chromatography;

    Abstract : In a modern kraft pulp mill only about 45 % of the incoming wood is present in the pulp and it is mainly composed of cellulose. The remainder of the wood, which is dissolved in order to liberate the cellulose fibres, e.g., hemicellulose and lignin, ends up in the mill´s recovery boiler to recover the latent energy. READ MORE

  5. 5. Chromatographic separation of wood constituents

    Author : Niklas Westerberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Hot water extracted Norway spruce was fractionated by cross flow filtration followed by two stages of hydrophobic adsorption with increasing hydrophobic selectivity. Three fractions were recovered and characterized by Klason and sugar content and by size exclusion measurements of enzymatically hydrolyzed samples, revealing species covalently bound to carbohydrates.
