1. Cracking in Reinforced Concrete Structures Due to Imposed Deformations
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with modeling of the cracking process in reinforced concrete due to imposed deformations. Cracking is investigated both at early ages, during hydration, and at mature age when the final properties of the concrete are reached. READ MORE

2. Least squares modification of Stokes formula with application to the Estonian geoid
Abstract : Many applications in geodesy, geophysics and engineering require physically defined heightsrelated to an equipotential surface of the Earth, thegeoid.During the last two decades theincreased need for refined geoid models has been driven by thedemands of users of GPS, who nowadays must transformGPS-derived geodetic heights into orthometric heights, makingthem compatible with the local vertical datum. 3. Essays on risk and housing
Abstract : There is a series of different types of risk on the housing market and related industries. The six papers in this doctoral dissertation are about a number of the many dimensions of risk management on the housing market. READ MORE

4. Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Cluster-Based Catalysts for Asymmetric Reactions
Abstract : Synthesis and characterization of new transition metal carbonyl clusters has been undertaken, and evaluation of the new clusters to act as catalysts/catalysts precursor in asymmetric reactions has been carried out. The catalytic hydrogenation of tiglic acid under relatively mild conditions, using diastereomeric clusters of the general formula [(µ-H)2Ru3(µ3-S)(CO)7(µ-1,2-L)] (L= chiral diphosphine of the ferrocene-based Walphos and Josiphos families) as catalysts, reveal different catalytic behavior in terms of conversion and enantioselectivity. 5. Propagation of some coherent and partially coherent laser beams
Abstract : In this thesis, we investigate the propagation of some coherent and partially coherent laser beams, including a dark hollow beam (DHB), an elliptical Gaussian beam (EGB), a flat-topped beam and a twisted anisotropic Gaussian Schell-model (TAGSM) beam, through a paraxial optical system or a turbulent atmosphere. Several theoretical models are proposed to describe a DHB of circular or non-circular symmetry. READ MORE
