1. Spinal cord ischemia : An experimental study of the spinal cord blood supply and peroperative ischemia detection by a new method of intrathecal monitoring
Abstract : Spinal cord ischemia associated with thoracoabdominal aortic surgery may lead to devastating neurological complications. Improvement in bypass techniques and various adjunctive measures has reduced its incidence, but still 5-10 % of the patients develop postoperative paraplegia. READ MORE

2. A sub-5 fs 100 TW optical parametric synthesizer
Abstract : State-of-the-art ultrashort light sources in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions provide direct access to the femtosecond realm, thereby enabling understanding and control of electronic processes within matter. On the other hand, ultra-intense light pulses lead to the emergence of relativistic electron motion and many related phenomena, such as electron & ion acceleration and high-order harmonic generation in plasmas. 5. Effects of Delayed versus Early Cord Clamping on Healthy Term Infants
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to study maternal and infant effects of delayed cord clamping (≥180 seconds, DCC) compared to early (≤10 seconds, ECC) in a randomised controlled trial. Practice and guidelines regarding when to clamp the cord vary globally, and different meta-analyses have shown contradictory conclusions on benefits and disadvantages of DCC and ECC. READ MORE
