  1. 1. Malic acid production by Aspergillus oryzae

    Author : Christoph Knuf; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C4 dicarboxylic acids; Aspergillus oryzae; systems biology; fermentation; malic acid; metabolic engineering;

    Abstract : Malic acid is a C4 dicarboxylic acid which is used as an acidulant in food and beverages. It isalso considered as a bio-building block to replace petrochemically derived compounds in thepost oil era. This organic acid can be biotechnologically derived from fermentation usingrenewable feedstocks as carbon source. READ MORE

  2. 2. Reuse-based Reverse Value Chain for Sustainable Apparel Industry

    Author : Manoj Kumar Paras; Anca Draghici; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Reverse value chain; Reuse; Value creation; Apparel industry; Second hand clothing; Omvänd värdekedja; Återanvändning; Värdetillverkning; Klädindustri; Second-hand kläder; Textil och mode generell ; Textiles and Fashion General ;

    Abstract : The reverse value chain is a concept that maximizes the utility of a product after end-of-life or end-of-use. Its main components are reuse, repair, up-cycling and down-cycling. This thesis has investigated the business of apparel ‘reuse’ to develop a reuse-based reverse value chain model for apparel industry. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards simulating fully charged protein-DNA systems in water : Zif268-DNA as a test case

    Author : Git Roxström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Molecular Dynamics simulation; Zif268; zinc fingers; GROMOS; linkers; recognition sites; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we develop a computing strategy to simulate fully charged protein-DNA systems with a general force field (GROMOS87). The ions neutralizing the phosphates (P-ions) are submitted to global symmetry constraints. A model exhibiting ionic-atmosphere effects on mobile P-ions was implemented via very weak restraint forces. READ MORE

  4. 4. Systems Biology of Glucose Sensing and Repression in Aspergillus niger: Lessons from Genomics and Transcriptomics

    Author : Margarita Salazar Pena; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; A. niger; Aspergillus spp.; Transcription Factors; Regulation; Metabolism; Transcriptomics;

    Abstract : Aspergillus comprises a genus of multicellular eukaryotic microorganisms containing close to 200 different species. Among them, the filamentous fungus Aspergillus niger exhibits great diversity in its phenotype and it is found, both in marine and terrestrial habitats. A. niger produces many metabolites that are valuable commodities, e. READ MORE
