  2. 2. d-wave Josephson Junctions

    Author : Tobias Lindström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Josephson junctions; high-temperature superconductivity; Andreev states;

    Abstract : The properties of d-wave YBCO Josephson junctions and dc-SQUIDs with high misorientation angles have beenstudied experimentally .The predominant d-wave symmetry of the pairing wavefunction in high-Tc superconductors has, to a large extent, beena hinderance in applications, but it also makes it possible to fabricate devices with novel properties that may be suitablefor applications in the quantum regime; one particulary interesting property is a strong second harmonic component in the current-phase relation ofjunctions with the electrodes oriented in a node-lobe arrangement; so-called 0-45 junctions. 3. 3. Transport theory and finite element methods for mesoscopic superconducting devices

    Author : Kevin Marc Seja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; non-equilibrium superconductivity; finite element methods; unconventional superconductors; quasiclassical theory; transport theory;

    Abstract : At low temperatures, electrons in a superconductor exhibit pairing correlations that result in a macroscopic, phase-coherent ground state. This leads to peculiar electromagnetic properties such as the flow of dissipationless charge currents and expelling of external magnetic fields. READ MORE

  4. 4. Robust Platforms for Superconductivity : Disorder Robustness and Topological Density of States Peaks

    Author : Tomas Löthman; Annica M. Black-Schaffer; Carsten Honerkamp; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Odd-Frequency Superconductivity; Nematic superconductivity; Topological Phases of Matter; Flat bands; Van Hove Singularity; Graphene; Twisted Bilayer Graphene; Rhombohedral graphite; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : We explore the connection between robust material platforms for superconductivity and the modern condensed matter physics paradigms of two-dimensional materials, topological states of matter, and odd-frequency superconductivity. Specifically, the recent discoveries of gapless topological matter and truly two-dimensional materials with graphene have greatly expanded the class of materials for which topology produces large, robust, even singular, density of states (DOS) peaks in the electronic structure that in turn are highly susceptible to new ordered states of matter, including superconductivity. 5. 5. Deviations from the London model in superconductors

    Author : Emma Campillo; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Neutron scattering; SANS; vortex lattice; condensed matter physics; Fysicumarkivet A:2022:Campillo;

    Abstract : Using Small-Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) we have studied the flux line lattices of the first heavy-fermion superconductor to be discovered, CeCu2Si2, the well-known high-temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O7, along with Ca-doped variants of this compound, and several topological superconductor candidates that have attracted a lot of attention in the last few years, such as PbTaSe2, Au2Pb and β-Bi2Pd.Unconventional superconductors, with pairing mechanisms and properties that are not accounted for within BCS theory, are a subject of continuing interest.
