  1. 1. Environmental Improvments of the Post-Farm Dairy Chain: Production Management by Systems Analysis Methods

    University dissertation from Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Johanna Berlin; Chalmers tekniska högskola.; Chalmers University of Technology.; Chalmers tekniska högskola.; Chalmers University of Technology.; [2005]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; environmental systems analysis; life cycle assessment; LCA; environment; dairy; dairy products; cheese; yoghurt; production scheduling; actor analysis;

    Abstract : The production of dairy products is becoming more centralised at the same time as the number of different products is steadily increasing. In this thesis. the environmental impact of such ongoing development trends in the post-farm dairy chain was evaluated and improvements were suggested. READ MORE

  2. 2. Drying kinetics, coalescence and agglomeration of dairy products particles

    University dissertation from Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Loredana Malafronte; Chalmers tekniska högskola.; Chalmers University of Technology.; [2015]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; agglomeration; coalescence; dairy; drying-kinetics; modelling; spray drying; stickiness; single particle;

    Abstract : Spray drying is used in the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries for producing powder from a liquid feed. The unique advantages of spray drying are producing powders of a specific particle size and moisture content, handling heat sensitive products, and high capacity. However, spray drying is a complex process. READ MORE

  3. 3. Beef production based on cassava products and legume foliage in Vietnam

    University dissertation from Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Thang Chu Manh; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to determine the associative effects of supplemental sources of protein, or protein and energy, using cassava products and legume foliage on rumen degradability, in vivo digestibility, feed intake and growth rate of crossbred growing cattle. First it was hypothesized that the substitution of a part of a conventional concentrate with mixed cassava and legume foliage will positively influence rumen degradability and improve the performance of growing cattle. 4. 4. Evaluation of catfish by-products as protein sources for pigs in the Mekong Delta of Viet Nam

    University dissertation from Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Nguyen Thi Thuy; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to evaluate preservation methods of catfish by-products (CBP), and the effects of replacing marine fish meal (FM) with these processing byproducts on diet digestibility, performance, feed efficiency and carcass quality in growing-finishing pigs. Paper I presents data on catfish production, processing and the nutritive value of catfish by-product meals (CBM) in the Mekong Delta (MD) of Vietnam. READ MORE

  5. 5. Antifungal properties of dairy propionibacteria

    University dissertation from Chalmers University of Technology

    Author : Helena Lind; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Today global agriculture is facing major challenges. The world's population is growing rapidly and we need to meet the increasing need for food with new strategies, including environmentally sustainable practices. Production must be enhanced with optimised resource utilisation and improved storage and distribution techniques. READ MORE
