  1. 1. The nurse-patient encounter and the patients' state: Effects of individual care and clinical group supervision in dementia care

    Author : Anna-Karin Edberg; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; demanding behaviour; mood; nursing home; clinical supervision; nursing care quality; patient care planning; support; nurse-patient relations; nursing care; Communication; dementia; quasi-experimental research; Psychiatry; clinical psychology; psychosomatics; Psykiatri; klinisk psykologi; psykosomatik;

    Abstract : The aim of thesis was to investigate the nurse-patient encounter in dementia care (n=9 patients), functional and cognitive ability, behaviours and mood of the patients as well as the reliability of the instruments used (n=75 nursing home patients). A further aim was to investigate the effects on the aspects mentioned above of a one-year controlled intervention (individually planned care and clinical group supervision) on one ward (EW) in comparison to a control ward (CW), each housing 11 patients. 2. 2. Causes and Consequences of Impulsivity in Red Junglefowl

    Author : Laura Garnham; Hanne Lovlie; Per Jensen; Neeltje Boogert; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Behaviour; Cognition; Gallus gallus; Impulsivity; Inhibitory control; Red junglefowl;

    Abstract : Throughout the animal kingdom, animals vary in cognition (i.e., how they acquire, process, store, and act on environmental information). Yet, the causes and consequences of this variation are currently unclear. READ MORE

  3. 3. Behaviour under predation risk in birds

    Author : Cecilia Kullberg; Neil B Metcalfe; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal physiology; Zoofysiologi;

    Abstract : Predation is a major selective force in the evolution of both morphological and behavioural characters in animals. The flexibility in behavioural traits according to perceived predation risk has received much attention in recent years. READ MORE

  4. 4. High-Temperature Behaviour of Austenitic Alloys : Influence of Temperature and Strain Rate on Mechanical Properties and Microstructural Development

    Author : Mattias Calmunger; Sten Johansson; Guocai Chai; Johan Moverare; Göran Engberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The global increase in energy consumption and the global warming from greenhouse gas emission creates the need for more environmental friendly energy production processes. Biomass power plants with higher efficiency could generate more energy but also reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, e.g. CO2. READ MORE

  5. 5. Understanding attention selection in driving: From limited capacity to adaptive behaviour

    Author : Johan A Skifs Engström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; driver distraction; expectancy; working memory load; adaptive driver behaviour; accident analysis; driving performance; Attention;

    Abstract : Accident analysis studies have consistently identified attention-related failures as key factors behind road crashes. However, less is known about how such failures lead to accidents. READ MORE
