  1. 16. T-cell responses to Helicobacter pylori in humans and a possible role of regulatory T cells

    Author : Anna Lundgren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Helicobacter pylori; mucosal immunology; stomach; duodenum; asymptomatic; duodenal ulcer; gastric adenocarcinoma; T cells; regulatory T cells; dendritic cells; T-cell recruitment;

    Abstract : Helicobacter pylori colonize the stomach and areas of gastric metaplasia in the duodenum. The bacteria induce both local and systemic immune responses, but despite this, the infection normally persists for life and causes chronic gastritis in all infected subjects and peptic ulcers or gastric cancer in 10-20% of infected individuals. 2. 17. Mechanisms involved in macrophage phagocytosis of apoptotic cells

    Author : Anna Nilsson; Per-Arne Oldenborg; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; macrophages; dendritic cells; phagocytosis; apoptotic cells; senescent erythrocytes; CD47; SIRPalpha; LRP1; calreticulin; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : Efficient removal of apoptotic cells is critical for development, tissue remodelling, maintenance of homeostasis, and response to injury. Phagocytosis of apoptotic cells is mediated by many phagocytic receptors, soluble bridging molecules, and pro-phagocytic ligands on the surface of apoptotic cells. READ MORE

  3. 18. Generation of Therapeutic T Cells for Prostate Cancer

    Author : Ole Forsberg; Magnus Essand; Thomas Tötterman; Gustav Gaudernack; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; T cells; dendritic cells; peptides; cytomegalovirus; adenovirus; immunotherapy; Clinical immunology; Klinisk immunologi; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Abstract : The work presented herein focuses on the activation of the adaptive immune system in order to develop T cell-based immunotherapy for viral infections and cancer. The main goal was to identify and activate viral or tumoral antigen-specific T cells by using different identification, isolation and stimulation techniques. READ MORE

  4. 19. Dendritic cells from human blood : Antigen handling and expression of adhesion molecules

    Author : Marie Larsson; Annika Scheynius; Östergötlands Läns Landsting; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Dendritic cells are a system of professional antigen-presenting cells that initiate the immune responses. Dendritic cells are widely distributed in the body, both in nonlymphoid tissues, lymphoid tissues and fluids of the body. READ MORE

  5. 20. The Role of Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells and Natural Killer Cells in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

    Author : Niklas Hagberg; Lars Rönnblom; Maija-Leena Eloranta; George Tsokos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Systemic lupus erythematosus; plasmacytoid dendritic cells; natural killer cells; type I interferon; immune complex; SLAM receptors; autoantibodies; CD94 NKG2A; CD94 NKG2C; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by autoantibody production, which can eventually lead to immune complex (IC)-mediated organ damage. Due to the stimulation of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) by nucleic acid-containing ICs (DNA- or RNA-IC), patients with SLE have an ongoing interferon (IFN)-α production. READ MORE
