  1. 1. Emission and Deposit Formation in Direct Injection Stratified Charge SI Engines

    Author : Håkan Sandquist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cycle-resolved measurements; deposit formation; direct injection; stratified charge; hydrocarbon emissions; SI engines; fuels;

    Abstract : A promising approach to increase the efficiency of the spark ignition (SI) engine is to inject the fuel directly into the cylinder to form a stratified charge. There is a potential to reduce the fuel consumption at low speeds and loads by 20 - 25% compared with conventional SI engines with stoichiometric homogeneous charge. READ MORE

  2. 2. Deposit formation in the grate-kiln process

    Author : Carrie Jonsson; Lars-Olof Nordin; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Deposit formation in the grate-kiln process is a challenge for the iron ore pellet production industry. The deposits cause disturbances that affect the production capacity of the pelletizing plant. READ MORE

  3. 3. Deposit Induced Corrosion in Biofuel Combustion

    Author : Petter Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ferritic steel; high temperature corrosion; superheater; waste combustion; CFB; biofuel boiler; waterwall; alkali chloride; deposit induced corrosion; chromate; nickel-based alloy; austenitic steel; martensitic steel; waste boiler;

    Abstract : Deposit induced corrosion is one of the main mechanisms for attack on heat exchangers in biofuel boilers. This severe corrosion decreases the obtainable steam temperature in boilers, thereby the efficiency in production of electricity is reduced. Deposit formation from the gas on superheater tubes are is generally referred to as fouling. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mechanisms of Deposit formation in the Grate-kiln Process

    Author : Hamid Sefidari; Marcus Öhman; Dan Boström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : Fly ash particles from the combustion of coal together with disintegrated particles arising from iron-ore pellets result in accumulation of deposits on the refractory linings of the grate-kiln induration machine during the iron-ore pelletizing process. Deposit formation gives rise to decreased production efficiency, unscheduled shutdowns, high cleaning costs, and equipment failures. READ MORE

  5. 5. Co-combustion of Biomass and Waste Fuels in a Fluidised Bed Boiler - Fuel Synergism

    Author : Anna-Lena Elled; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; co-combustion; fluidised bed combustion; straw; municipal sewage sludge; deposit formation; ash composition; biomass; wood;

    Abstract : The objective of this work was to study co-combustion of biomass and waste fuels in a circulating fluidised bed boiler and to detect synergy effects with respect to flue gas composition and ash formation during boiler operation. It was also the aim to perform supplementary thermodynamic equilibrium calculations in order to support the experimental results. READ MORE
