1. Population Differentiation in Solidago virgaurea along Altitudinal Gradients
Abstract : Altitudinal gradients offer attractive opportunities for studies of population differentiation in response to environmental heterogeneity. In this thesis, I examined population differentiation along altitudinal gradients by combining common-garden experiments with field studies and experiments in alpine, subalpine and boreal populations of the perennial herb Solidago virgaurea. 2. Gene regulation by Early B-cell Factor (EBF)
Abstract : In this study we aimed at defining genes that are controlled by Early B-cell Factor (EBF), that could explain the severe block in B-cell development observed in EBF-/- mice. The fact that EBF appears to be important for the transcriptional control of genes encoding proteins in the pre-B and B-cell receptor complex implied to us that EBF could be a common regulator of other components in the pre-B and B-cell receptor. 3. Cognitive abilities - aspects of structure, process and measurement
Abstract : The overall purpose of the thesis is to describe the development of the Swedish system of measuring cognitive abilities applied at enlistment of conscripts. The Enlistment Battery has been used for more than fifty years to classify 18-year old men into military positions for their compulsory service. READ MORE

4. Roles of ERα and ERβ in Normal and Disrupted Sex Differentiation in Japanese Quail
Abstract : Exposure to xenoestrogens during development has been shown to impair sexual differentiation in various species. The major aim of this thesis was to elucidate the respective roles of the two estrogen receptors ERα and ERβ in normal and disrupted differentiation of sex organs and copulatory behavior in the Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica). 5. Morphometric differentiation in Papaver radicatum (Papaveraceae) : Geographic pattern and significance for refugial survival theory
Abstract : The morphometric pattern of variation among and within Scandinavian populations of the alpine species Papaver radicatum was studied. Results from analyses (including multivariate techniques) of capsule and leaf traits of wild-collected and cultivated plants as well as wild-collected seeds show correlated patterns of variation in capsule traits and partly corresponding patterns of variation between capsule and seed traits.
