  1. 1. Studies of Edge Diffraction and Scattering: Applications to Room Acoustics and Auralization

    Author : Rendell Torres; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; diffraction; virtual environments; scattering; diffusion; architectural acoustics; auralization; virtual reality; room acoustics;

    Abstract : This thesis examines ways of including edge diffraction and surface scattering to improve room acoustics auralization, i.e., the binaural replication of an acoustic environment. The approach combines numerical and psychoacoustical studies to discern what level of computational accuracy is necessary to obtain perceptually adequate replication. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of water self-diffusion in porous systems

    Author : Daniel Topgaard; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusion diffraction; nonfreezing; anisotropy; tortuosity; cross relaxation; emulsion; starch; cellulose; porous material; water; NMR; self-diffusion; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was used to study the self-diffusion of water in porous systems that respond to a change in water content in order to elucidate the porous structure and the properties of the confined water. In the carbohydrate systems cellulose fibers and starch granules, water is free to move throughout the porous objects, albeit with a rate reduced from the value of the bulk liquid, The reduction is related to the tortuosity of the pore space filled by water. 3. 3. Strain Mapping of Single Nanowires using Nano X-ray Diffraction

    Author : Susanna Hammarberg; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanotrådar; X-ray Diffraction; Strain mapping; XRF; III-V nanowire; perovskite nanowires; Diffraction; Nanowires; Strain mapping; XRD; XRF; MAX IV;

    Abstract : Nanowires are explored as basic components for a large range of electronic devices. The nanowire format offersseveral benefits, including reduced material consumption and increased potential for combining materials to formnew novel heterostructures. READ MORE

  5. 5. Time-resolved x-ray diffraction of nanostructured samples

    Author : A. I. H. Persson; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; x-ray diffraction; phonons; optoacoustic transducer; electron diffusion; nanowires; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Persson;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is based on time-resolved x-ray diffraction studies of InSb (111) samples. The experiments were carried out using a pump-probe configuration using short laser pulses as the pump and x-rays as the probe. Laser excitation leads to the formation of a strain pulse that propagates through the sample. READ MORE
